Accounting Supervisor

Location: Surrey, BC. In office during onboarding, with some hybrid flexibility after probation.

Type: Full-time, permanent

Who we’re working with

Our client is a well-established, privately owned manufacturer serving customers across Canada and the U.S. Their finance team is small and collaborative, and leadership is invested in growth, continuous improvement and developing its people.

Why this role matters

As Accounting Supervisor, you’ll be the link between the Senior Accountant and the VP Finance. You’ll take ownership of day-to-day accounting so the VP can focus on strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role with real impact and a clear path for long-term growth, including potential succession into senior finance leadership.

What you’ll do

Leadership and review

  • Mentor the Senior Accountant, guide their workflow and review their work before distribution.
  • Keep the VP Finance informed of key issues, bringing possible solutions and a recommendation.

Accounting and reporting

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close, including working papers.
  • Prepare the monthly financial statements for VP Finance review and approval.
  • Manage the annual external audit and any others required.
  • Calculate and track monthly sales commissions and agency fees.
  • Review the daily KPI report for accuracy.
  • Prepare the monthly borrowing base calculation.

Credit and collections

  • Oversee collections and escalate problem accounts as needed.
  • Confirm credit insurance coverage is in place for new and existing customers.

Planning, analysis and improvement

  • Support the annual budget and forecast with data, analysis and backup.
  • Provide financial analysis and project support to help leadership make better decisions.
  • Help lead process improvement, automation and data-sharing initiatives.
  • Partner with other departments as a financial resource.

Systems and compliance

  • Maintain data integrity in the ERP, and keep sales and purchase records complete and paperless for an efficient audit.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian and U.S. regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • CPA designation, or well advanced in the CPA program.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervising or mentoring others.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance.
  • Advanced Excel and MS Office skills. Sage 300 experience is a plus.
  • Manufacturing, distribution or building products experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Confidence working independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Sharp attention to detail, strong analytical skills and good time management.

What’s in it for you

  • Competitive base salary plus a discretionary bonus.
  • Employer-paid medical benefits.
  • A supportive leader who values mentorship.
  • Long-term career growth, including succession opportunities.
