About the client:

A privately held custom manufacturing company specializing in premium architectural millwork, bespoke interiors, and fine furnishings for luxury residential and commercial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead and manage complex, high-end residential millwork projects, including projects valued at $3M–$5M, from initial handoff through production, installation, closeout, and warranty.
  • Take full ownership of project schedules, budgets, scope, resources, deliverables, and overall project performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, general contractors, consultants, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain, and actively manage detailed project schedules, including engineering milestones, drawing submissions, procurement, production, delivery, and installation.
  • Review and interpret architectural drawings, construction documentation, and technical specifications to identify discrepancies, risks, and coordination requirements.
  • Coordinate drawing reviews, revisions, approvals, and issuance with internal engineering, design, and external construction teams.
  • Lead project handoffs from estimating and pre-production into execution, ensuring scope, budgets, timelines, and expectations are clearly established.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities between engineering, pre-production, fabrication, procurement, and installation teams to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Manage project budgets, job costing, schedules of values, and financial performance to protect project margins.
  • Identify, document, negotiate, and manage scope changes and change orders.
  • Proactively identify project risks, scheduling conflicts, technical challenges, and resource constraints, implementing solutions before they affect project outcomes.
  • Support capacity planning, resource allocation, and production scheduling in collaboration with departmental leadership.
  • Coordinate purchasing, material procurement, outsourced fabrication, vendor timelines, and delivery requirements.
  • Oversee production readiness, shipping logistics, site coordination, and installation planning to ensure successful execution.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, drawings, purchase orders, change orders, schedules, and financial records.
  • Provide consistent project status updates, progress reporting, budget reviews, and risk assessments to internal leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support progress invoicing, financial closeout, warranty coordination, and resolution of outstanding project issues.
  • Build strong working relationships with demanding clients and construction partners while maintaining clear communication, accountability, and exceptional service standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project management processes, documentation, coordination, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Intermediate-to-senior Project Manager with experience managing complex, multimillion-dollar construction, architectural millwork, or custom fabrication projects.
  • Proven ability to independently manage projects valued at $3M–$5M, with accountability for schedules, budgets, quality, and delivery.
  • Strong background in luxury residential millwork, architectural woodworking, custom fabrication, or complex residential construction.
  • Experience in larger architectural or commercial construction organizations will also be considered where technical and project management skills are transferable.
  • Advanced ability to read, interpret, review, and mark up complex architectural drawings, shop drawings, and construction documents.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation processes, including issue-for-tender (IFT), issue-for-construction (IFC), drawing revisions, and approval workflows.
  • Working knowledge of architectural millwork materials, hardware, fabrication methods, quality standards, and installation requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating engineering, design, procurement, production, and installation teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, cost control, job costing, forecasting, change management, and construction payment structures.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage complex project schedules, identify critical dependencies, and coordinate multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Experience with resource allocation, capacity planning, production scheduling, and cross-functional project coordination.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with working knowledge of Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Comfortable working directly with technical drawings, project management systems, and digital documentation workflows.
  • Experience operating within structured project management environments, with the ability to implement and improve established processes.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Confident working with high-expectation clients, architects, general contractors, and other construction professionals.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, technically capable, and proactive in identifying and resolving problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions independently, take ownership of outcomes, and manage challenges without constant escalation.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish accountability and maintain alignment across multiple departments.
  • Adaptable, process-driven, and comfortable operating in a growing company where priorities, systems, and responsibilities continue to evolve.
  • Ambitious and motivated to take on greater project ownership, autonomy, and long-term career responsibility.
  • PMP certification is considered an asset but is not required; relevant experience, technical competency, sound judgment, and demonstrated results are prioritized.
