Role Overview & Responsibilities

We are seeking an entry-level candidate with an accredited degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering. Working under the mentorship and supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), you will gain hands-on experience suitable for PEO licensure while taking on a design-heavy role that involves:

  • Developing detailed 3D models and technical drawings for fabrication and construction.
  • Performing structural and mechanical design calculations using engineering first principles.
  • Utilizing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software for design validation and optimization.
  • Conducting field surveys, taking site measurements, and capturing 3D laser scans (training provided).
  • Integrating 3D scanning and point cloud data into existing CAD design workflows.
  • Interfacing directly with clients to gather project requirements and provide technical updates.
  • Visiting industrial client sites (approximately 20% of the time) to assess field conditions and collect project data.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering from a CEAB-accredited program (or equivalent).
  • Experience: 0 to 2 years of relevant engineering design experience (including co-op or internship terms).
  • Licensure Eligibility: Eligible and intending to apply for a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, drafting, and FEA software
  • Analytical Skills: Strong foundation in engineering mechanics, structural analysis, and first principles.
  • Travel: Valid Ontario Class G (or G2) driver’s license and reliable access to a personal vehicle for client site visits.
  • Language: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Assets (Nice-to-Have)

  • Prior experience or familiarity with 3D laser scanning hardware and point cloud processing software.
  • Bilingualism in English and French.
  • Practical hands-on experience (e.g., university design teams, machine shop, or field experience).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive starting salary with annual performance reviews and increases.
  • Mileage reimbursement for all work-related travel using a personal vehicle.
  • Direct mentorship from licensed Professional Engineers (P.Eng.) to support your path to licensure.
