We are looking for a full-time Accountant, Receivables and Trust to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, you will collaborate with colleagues in Finance and the Legal practice groups to support the firm’s business, receivables and trust operations. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing, record-keeping and reporting of financial transactions for management and lawyers in accordance with best practices, firm policies and applicable regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals, sound knowledge of trust accounting requirements and practical, hands-on experience supporting trust accounting activities with accuracy, discretion and a client-service mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

Process all cash receipts, including cheques, drafts and wires, accurately and in a timely manner
Process all trust activities, including deposits, disbursements and investments, accurately and in a timely manner, with careful attention to compliance with firm policies and LSO trust account requirements
Respond to inquiries from Finance colleagues and Legal practice groups regarding cash receipts, trust activities and related financial processes
Gather, file and maintain supporting documentation for daily cash receipts and trust activities
Liaise with the bank to buy or sell currencies, place or redeem trust investments and investigate treasury issues as required, ensuring compliance with firm policies
Generate and prepare trust reports, including transaction histories, balances, reconciliations from subledger to general ledger and reports required for settlement of firm invoices
Perform other duties as assigned and provide backup support for teammates as needed

What You Bring:

A post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Accounting or Finance
A minimum of 3 years of financial or accounting experience preferably within a law firm or professional services environment
Knowledge of trust accounting principles, and controls, with hands-on experience in trust deposits, disbursements, investments, reconciliations and reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
Experience with law firm accounting systems, trust accounts and accounts receivable processes is an asset
Familiarity with domestic and foreign wire transfer and banking processes is an asset
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Commitment to accuracy and accountability
Collaborative approach with a commitment to supporting colleagues and clients
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment
Sound judgement and commitment to discretion and confidentiality
