We are looking for a full-time Team Leader, Billings to join our Accounting team. Reporting to the Director, Revenue & Reporting, this role leads a team and supports the effective management of the firm’s revenue cycle. The successful candidate will bring strong billing expertise, sound judgment and a service-oriented approach to building relationships with lawyers, clients and firm members, ensuring work in progress is billed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, coaching and day-to-day guidance to the Billings team, including workload oversight and performance management
Build strong relationships with lawyers and develop a thorough understanding of their practices, client requirements and billing cycles
Manage the E-Billing process, ensuring invoices are submitted accurately and issues are resolved on a timely basis
Review client billing guidelines and ensure compliance with special rates, billing arrangements and client-specific requirements
Maintain a strong understanding of rate setups and special rates for billing and E-Billing purposes
Identify, evaluate and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency and client service
Oversee and resolve billing inquiries, escalating matters as appropriate and providing backup support to the team when needed
Review and provide financial analysis and reporting for clients, lawyers and management
Provide backup support for other roles within the finance team as required
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Post-secondary education required; education in accounting, finance or a related field is preferred
Minimum of five years’ experience in a billing role, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
Minimum of two years’ demonstrated team leadership experience, including coaching and performance management
Strong knowledge of billing policies, procedures, systems and internal controls
Experience with billing and invoicing software, including 3E and E-Billing systems, together with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Results-oriented, analytical and solutions-focused, with strong problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships
High degree of discretion, confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced billing environment
Strong client service orientation and the ability to anticipate client and internal stakeholder needs
