Role Description This full-time, on-site Dialysis Nurse role is based in Ontario, Canada. The Dialysis Nurse will provide safe, evidence-based hemodialysis care, including patient assessment, treatment planning, initiation and monitoring of dialysis treatments, and post-treatment evaluation. Daily responsibilities include administering medications related to dialysis, managing vascular access, monitoring vital signs and lab values, and responding promptly to changes in patient status. The nurse will educate patients and families on dialysis procedures, fluid and dietary restrictions, and self-management strategies to support long-term kidney health. The role also involves collaborating with nephrologists and interdisciplinary teams, maintaining accurate documentation, complying with infection prevention and safety protocols, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong clinical expertise in Hemodialysis and Dialysis, with the ability to deliver safe, high-quality renal replacement therapies.
- Solid foundation in Nursing, including comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, and evaluation across diverse clinical settings.
- Working knowledge of Medicine and Nephrology principles related to kidney disease, fluid and electrolyte balance, and dialysis management.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (or eligibility for registration).
- Previous experience in dialysis or nephrology nursing preferred; new graduates with relevant clinical placements may be considered.
- Proficiency in clinical documentation, electronic health records, and adherence to infection control and safety standards.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and patient education skills, with a commitment to compassionate, person-centered care.
- Ability to work rotating shifts as required, stand for extended periods, and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced environment.
- BLS/CPR certification required; ACLS and additional renal-related certifications are an asset.
