Experience designing end-to-end secure, observable multi-agent systems using design patterns (ReAct, self-reflection), state management, and tool-calling protocols.

Experience performing discovery interviews to identify business problems and translate complex hardware/AI constraints for C-suites and technical teams.

About the job:

Like Google's own ambitions, the work of a Software Developer goes way beyond just Search. Software Development Managers have not only the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of software developers. You not only optimize your own code but make sure software developers are able to optimize theirs. As a Software Development Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. Software Development teams work all across the company, in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, user interface design; the list goes on and is growing every day. Operating with scale and speed, our exceptional software developers are just getting started -- and as a manager, you guide the way.

Applied AI builds conversational agents deployed at a large scale that achieve very meaningful results in the real world. Some examples include the customer agent built for large call center environments, to fast food ordering managed by our Food AI agent. The team is transforming how enterprises connect with customers through the power of AI.

As an Agent Development Manager, you will be at the forefront of applying Google's Generative AI to solve real-world challenges for our most strategic customers. You will act as a specialized software development manager embedded with key accounts, working to build, deploy, and optimize sophisticated AI agents on our CES platform.

The Cloud Applied AI (AAI) powers business growth with Gemini Enterprise. Our portfolio includes Gemini Enterprise for Customer Experience (Shopping Agent, CX Agent Studio, Agent Assist, Vertex AI Search - Commerce, Customer Experience Insights), along with other vertical and domain packaged solutions. We enable high adoption and speed to value by building solutions that are quickly deployed, delivering new 0-to-1 capabilities with startup agility. Team members operate at the forefront of AI, collaborating directly with model builders with unprecedented speed. Join us to work on cutting-edge projects and shape the future of AI in a fast-paced, collaborative, and impactful environment.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Partner with sales and tech leadership to define requirements for high-value opportunities, deploying specialized experts (agentic systems in customer experience) to key accounts.
Lead technical hiring for Applied AI Agent Development, evaluating AI Agent expertise, systems development, and coding skills to build an exceptional development team.
Identify skill gaps in emerging tech (MCP, tool-calling, and foundation models), ensuring the team maintains subject matter expertise in an evolving AI stack.
Collaborate with product and development to resolve blockers and translate field insights into roadmaps while building internal tools to drive organizational efficiency.
