ABOUT US

GotoDoctor (Teledact Inc.) is a Canadian healthcare technology company. We run a virtual care and care-navigation platform for insurers, employers, pharmacies and healthcare organizations, supported by our Enhanced Care clinics and pharmacy. We are growing quickly and building a finance team that works to public-company standards.

THE ROLE

We are hiring a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead the month-end and year-end close, act as the main day-to-day contact for our external auditors, and supervise a small accounting team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Month-End and Year-End Close

Lead the monthly, quarterly and year-end close using a clear checklist and calendar.
Prepare and review journal entries, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare consolidated financial statements for our group of companies, including intercompany balances.
Keep key schedules up to date: revenue and deferred revenue, capitalized software, leases, stock options, loans and fixed assets.
Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and cash.
Oversee monthly MOH (OHIP) and other provincial billing, including matching payments and following up on rejected claims.
Prepare variance analysis and explain the results to management.

Audit Support

Be the main day-to-day contact for our external auditors.
Manage the auditor request list and deadlines, and prepare the schedules, reconciliations and documents they need.
Record audit adjustments and make sure the general ledger matches the audited numbers.
Help prepare the financial statement notes and check them against the books.
Document our accounting processes and internal controls to meet public-company requirements.
Help move the company from Sage 50 to a larger accounting system.

Team Leadership

Supervise and review the work of the accounting and billing staff.
Make sure close checklists are finished on time and properly documented.
Train the team and write simple step-by-step procedures.
Reassign work during busy close and audit periods.
Raise significant issues to the Senior Director, Accounting Services and the CFO.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably including time as a senior accountant.
Full-cycle accounting experience, including AR, AP, payroll, general ledger and reconciliations.
Hands-on experience running the month-end and year-end close.
Experience preparing for and supporting external audits.
Some experience supervising or training junior staff.
Strong Excel skills, attention to detail and clear communication.

Nice to Have

CPA designation.
Experience at a public company, or at a company preparing to go public.
Experience at an accounting or audit firm.
Experience consolidating multiple companies.
Healthcare or MOH (OHIP) billing experience.
Sage 50 experience, or experience moving to a new accounting system.
