Original job description

About GovernGPT

We are YC-backed and profitable, and both our CEO and CTO are technical founders.

  • We have real revenue from funds like Coatue. Coatue has been a client of ours for 3+ years.
  • We have already realized real, proven ROI for funds like Pantheon.
  • Our clients include Coatue, Pantheon, DigitalBridge, ICONIQ, Tishman Speyer, Stonepeak, Silver Lake, Lazard, Related Companies, PAG, Onex, and tens of others.
  • We have a killer team with the only operational agent in the market (private markets).

CEO + CTO are best friends.

  • CEO is an AI scientist who co-authored 10+ foundational models alongside the Godfather of AI, invented a system to design chips and built GPTs before ChatGPT at Cerebras. CEO leads sales.
  • CTO is a systems architect who built billion-scale systems at McKinsey and startups. CTO leads tech.
  • Founding AI scientist is ex-Apple, ex-Samsung, ex-founder.
  • Founding product engineer is ex-Unity, ex-Autodesk, ex-founder.
  • Founding salesperson is a 2x exited founder.

Team is intense, tight-knit, high-trust, nimble and has won against teams with 100x the headcount.

About the role

This role is way overdue. I just never wanted a second-class citizen in the org. I still don’t.

Tech companies start with sales and product. But now we’re at the inflection point to scale, and company building is a different game.

We are now a team of 6 engineers (one is the CEO, who does sales) and 1 salesperson.

We do well. Very well, in fact. We have built a killer product and a killer sales motion. Happy and very rich clients.

We need a COO / President to become the third pillar of the org.

Someone with high agency who tells us how to think strategically and just does it. Someone who builds a system and runs it smoothly.

Someone obsessed with both the big picture and the micro details.

You build it, you run it, you own it end to end.

If you build AI to do this yourself, great. If not, I’ll find you the best AI COO agent builder there is.

You need to be an execution beast. At times, you’ll be the drill sergeant. But you also have to ideate.

It’s simple: you’re ambitious, you’ve already done great stuff and you’ve got the energy. And you enjoy owning.

We’re looking for the Eric Schmidt to our Larry and Sergey.

In this role, you will

be responsible for building systems of financial and operational leverage.

The following requires seniority:

  • Financial Leverage: Including but not limited to raising venture capital, M&A for strategic purposes, or setting up a Canadian entity so we can double our R&D budget without any dilution (SR&ED). You’d lead on both the execution and strategy of this.
  • Operational Leverage: Including but not limited to building systems around hiring, dealing with legal counsel (we have a few), establishing global offices, etc.

The following requires in-the-weeds energy:

  • Ad-hoc ops / finance: We have automated most of this with LLMs, including invoicing, collections, expenses, payroll, budget, modelling, cash management, vendors, tools, office, customer contracts, billing logistics, etc. You’d own it end to end by systematizing these, and we’ll build LLMs to automate all of it.

You are

  • Hyper-organized & deadline-proof. There is no leak. Ever. In fact, you are dictatorial about this.
  • Process-obsessed. You love turning chaos into systems. You need to be that catalyst all the time.
  • An owner and a team player. You’re Type A; you want to own a discipline, yet you align incentives with your team to win bigger together.

Your background

Here’s who we’re looking for:

  • You’re most likely an ex-founder (CEO or COO).
  • You’re most likely an ex-lawyer, investment banker or accountant.
  • You most likely have raised venture or done M&A before.

You’re likely intense, a bit weird (in the best way possible), super passionate about what you do and love working with great people. Being part of something great inspires you, and you deeply love it. That’s our company DNA. We want to build the 10-person decacorn.

Who you’ll work with and what we expect

You report directly to the CEO. The CEO wants you to have strong opinions that are backed by data.

You’d share 3 items every day with the CEO: (1) Bottleneck, (2) Focus, (3) Moved.

  • Success in month 1 means you’ve fully taken over all admin and ops work, and the founders don’t do an ounce of this work.
  • Success by month 3 means you have key input on strategic directions such as raising venture, acquiring a competitor, etc.
  • Success by the end of the 1st year means you’ve heavily contributed to GovernGPT’s growth and scale.

Why you’d bet on us

Because, we are Ronaldo before Ronaldo.

How you’ll grow

We share this journey together.

You will own a discipline. You’ll have ownership and responsibility.

We share the upside and downside together.

The name of the game is leverage, and you will have a ton, simply because you’ll have massive impact at GovernGPT.

Please note: for this role, you will get outsized shares/returns, and we expect outsized returns for the company.

How to stand out

Tell us something insane. The same thing you’d say to a YC partner if you ever applied to YC.

Wanna have some fun and build cool stuff? Join us! Apply right now.
