Technology and Innovation is responsible for making innovation and technology the driving force behind Alberta’s economic growth and diversification. To learn more about us, please visit: https://www.alberta.ca/technology-and-innovation.

The Digital Design and Delivery (DDD) division is the Government of Alberta's (GoA) centre for modern digital delivery, focused on accelerating the design of simpler, faster, and better digital services. It partners with ministries to design better services, build capability and confidence in modern digital practices, and assure service quality and value through standards and controls.

The Forward Delivery & Modernization Branch plays a fundamental role in the transformation of the way government designs, develops, and delivers services for and with Albertans. This Branch leads the design and rapid development of products and services that support delivery of ministry programs and mandates within a new delivery discipline that leverages modern platforms and technologies.

Role Responsibilities

The Forward Delivery & Modernization Branch is looking for ten (10) Full Stack Developers. Reporting to the Manager, Development, this position designs and implements software using an iterative, continuous development approach, where requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between cross-functional teams and users.

This role explicitly requires AI capability, creating systems using AI-first development practices, and using AI as a co-developer, in addition to traditional front-end and back-end development.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Develop and deliver full-stack digital solutions, including AI-enabled features, using agile and human-centered design approaches.
  • Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to translate user and business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Design, integrate, and maintain AI, automation, data, and shared components within existing digital services.
  • Apply software development best practices, including testing, code reviews, source control, documentation, CI/CD, and responsible AI practices.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend opportunities to improve digital products, service delivery, and development practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to developers, particularly in the adoption and integration of AI-enabled solutions.
  • Engage technical and non-technical stakeholders to advance secure, responsible, and effective digital and AI transformation.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, solution-focused approach.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical and AI concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and curiosity, with a commitment to learning and applying emerging technologies and AI practices.

The Job Description is provided for further details on this position.
