Technology and Innovation is responsible for making innovation and technology the driving force behind Alberta’s economic growth and diversification. To learn more about us, please visit: Technology and Innovation.

The Digital Design and Delivery (DDD) division is the Government of Alberta's (GoA) centre for modern digital delivery, focused on accelerating the design of simpler, faster, and better digital services. It partners with ministries to design better services, build capability and confidence in modern digital practices, and assure service quality and value through standards and controls.

The Assistant Deputy Minister’s Office (ADMO) supports the Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Operating Officer (COO) through strategic coordination, executive briefing support, and timely information flow. Working across divisional and organizational boundaries, the office coordinates emerging issues and executive requests, tracks commitments, and brings together clear, decision-ready information to advance priorities.

Role Responsibilities

The Digital Design and Delivery division is looking for a Manager, Executive Issues and Coordination to manage divisional issues and executive requests and advance files to decision or closure. Reporting to the Director, Executive Operations (DEO), the Manager is accountable for portfolio quality, timeliness, integrity, and continuity. The DEO sets priorities and expected outcomes; the Manager independently manages day-to-day work within established standards and delegated authority.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Managing executive issues from intake to decision or closure; assessing urgency, sensitivity, risks, and dependencies; and turning research into decision-ready analysis, options, and recommendations.
  • Coordinating cross-functional input, setting responsibilities, requirements and timelines, requesting revisions, and resolving routine workflow issues, escalating significant issues to the DEO with recommendations.
  • Preparing and coordinating briefings, correspondence, decision records, and other executive materials; reviewing accuracy, completeness, recommendations, risks, and approved readiness.
  • Tracking commitments, deadlines, risks, and dependencies, addressing barriers, coordinating follow-up, and escalating matters requiring DEO direction or decision.
  • Building internal and external stakeholder relationships to advance divisional priorities.
  • Improving workflows, tracking, and quality controls using AI and automation; supporting adoption of these tools with subject-matter experts while validating outputs, protecting sensitive information, and maintaining human accountability.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong judgment and critical thinking when assessing complex and sensitive issues.
  • Clear and concise communication with the ability to prepare executive-ready information.
  • Strong organization and adaptability in managing competing priorities, risks, and deadlines.
  • Effective relationship-building and collaboration across diverse stakeholders.
