Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS) provides support for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, continuing care, financial support, affordable housing, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. The Corporate Procurement Office (CPO) supports the goals and objectives of ALSS by playing a leadership role in governance, accountability, and procurement, contract, and grant management activities.

Role Responsibilities

If the answer is yes, we want you to consider a career in Corporate Procurement Office (CPO)! CPO is eager to have a strong analytical mind join their team as a Senior Contract Specialist providing services to one of the larger ministries in the Government of Alberta (GoA).
Reporting to the Manager - CPO, you will be part of a team of procurement, contract, and grant, experts who provide consultation, policy, compliance, reporting, and training services to the contracting and grant program staff of Alberta Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS).
As a Senior Contract Specialist, your knowledge of best practices for procurements, contracts, and grants as well as relevant GoA policies, legislation and trade agreements, will enable you to provide expert advice and guidance in adapting, implementing and integrating corporate contract and grant policy and best practices within ALSS.
You will also support ALSS’ Contract and Grant Review Committee (CGRC) by providing thorough reviews of submissions, presenting recommendations to the CGRC, and working with all areas of the ministry to ensure all related administrative and reporting requirements are satisfied.
As a valuable member of CPO’s team, you will participate in working groups and provide input on the development, review, and implementation of policies, procedures, controls and other strategic or operational initiatives.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- University graduation in a related field plus four (4) years progressively responsible related experience in end to end procurement.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Assets:
- Professional purchasing certification. E.g. Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or similar;
- Working knowledge of government policies, organizational structures and decision-making machinery; and
- Experience working with contract and grant management systems.
