Reporting to the Deputy Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Nunavut, the Executive Services Coordinator plays a key interlocuter role for the whole of the Department between the Office of the Deputy Minister’s (DMO) and all internal and external stakeholders. The position is responsible for managing the affairs of the DMO, responding to enquiries, often urgent and complex, as well as coordinating and executing complex and sensitive activities, and providing information and direction to all departmental management and staff as required.
The Key Responsibilities for this position includes the following:
- Coordinates, conducts and managing research/analysis to provide advice and recommendations where appropriate.
- Provides solutions to various issues affecting the Department by executing appropriate courses of action as required.
- Writes correspondence, reports, presentations for, or on behalf of, Deputy Minister (DM), and approves, recommends, and/or writes correspondence for the DM.
- Manages the DM’s time, schedule and agenda, meetings and committee files as well as tracking and monitoring multiple commitments and accountabilities required of the DM and/or the Department as well as other members of the Executive Management team.
- Participates as an active member of the Executive Management Committee (EMC), providing input and recommendations as appropriate
- Maintains a record of decisions and creates a tracking system to ensure all issues and commitments are completed.
- Provides support to the Deputy Minister’s Office, the Policy and Consumer Affairs Division, and the Local Government Branch located in Iqaluit.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through the following:
- Completion of High School (Grade 12).
- A minimum of 3 years of experience providing co-ordination, support services and/or advice to a senior level manager and supervisory experience.
- An acceptable combination of related education, training and experience may be considered.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
