Job Summary And Requirements

This competition is for one (1) term position, working 75 hours biweekly until January 28, 2028.

About The Role

Reporting to the Art Curator, this position coordinates access and management of the Government of Yukon’s art collections including documentation, presentation, care and maintenance. This position also develops special programs, exhibitions, displays and workshops and assists with art commissions, restoration and maintenance projects.

The Cultural Services Branch is looking for someone who is excited to work with the Yukon’s government’s art collections. The ideal candidate has hands-on work experience and is proficient in handling, moving and installing a variety of artwork. They have knowledge of conservation requirements for diverse media and materials. This position also requires attention to detail for documentation and management. Working in this position will offer an opportunity to work in different locations across the territory, interact with the public and Yukon artists, and learn about the Yukon Permanent Art Collection.

Essential Qualifications

Post-secondary education in fine arts, art conservation, museum studies, arts administration, or related field;
Experience in art handling and installation, ideally in gallery or museum settings with public collections;
Experience in art or artifact documentation and collection management;
Experience working with and/or knowledge of the Yukon arts and culture sector;
Experience working with collections databases.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant coursework along with recent work experience may be equally considered.

Candidates should have and may be assessed on:

Ability to manage a heavy workload with critical deadlines, work independently, problem solve and re-prioritize to meet changing circumstances;
Project coordination skills, including collaborating with partners, working within budgets and meeting deadlines;
Oral and written communication skills that are appropriate for working with public partners and members of the arts community;
Proficiency with a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and Adobe suite;
Experience training, mentoring, or coordinating the work of staff, volunteers, or students.

Additional Information

Condition(s) of Employment:

Class 5 Yukon Driving License.

Job Requirement(s)

Travel throughout the Yukon may be required;
Occasional lifting of boxes (10 - 15 kg.).

This position is not eligible for paid relocation.
