Original job description
POSITION: Permanent, Full-Time
LOCATION: Toronto, ON (On-Site)
We have an immediate opening for a Senior Proposal and Pursuit Specialist to join our Toronto-based, award-winning architecture and interior design studio. We’re on the lookout for a skilled and resourceful individual to play an integral role in sustaining Gow Hastings’ practice and advancing its growth, with the ability to work effortlessly across strategic planning, new business pursuits, proposals, and media outreach.
ABOUT US
Gow Hastings Architects is a Toronto-based design studio creating vibrant places for learning and discovery. Our work reimagines how these spaces can look, feel and function and make a meaningful difference to their users.
Our studio specialises in the design of buildings and spaces for education in the broadest sense of the word - anywhere people gather to engage with culture, knowledge and ideas. Through a deliberate embrace of the overlooked and the underestimated, for us no space has been too minor to matter, and no task too complex to complete. We have delivered over 500 projects, both small and large: from single classrooms to entire campuses; laboratory benches to research towers; culinary schools to skilled trades facilities; student centres to youth hubs; and Indigenous teaching lodges to outdoor learning experiences, among others.
We provide full multidisciplinary design consulting services, integrating architecture, interior design, sustainable and accessible design with functional programming, spatial planning, user engagement, visual communication and environmental graphic design. Clients include communities, municipalities, school boards, colleges and universities, public agencies as well as private organisations.

Working collaboratively with the Partners and project teams, the specialist is responsible for:
- RFP/RFQ pursuits from start to finish;
- Business procurement to support Gow Hastings’ short- and long-term business goals, including tracking business leads, identifying new market and business opportunities;

- Client, consultant, and collaborator relations;
- Press and media communications.
In addition, the specialist will work on:
- A wide range of graphic communications assignments, including proposals, presentations, awards submissions, publications, and marketing collateral, in print, digital, and/or web;
- Website maintenance and social media engagement;
- Projects’ visual documentation;
- Photography coordination and image database management.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications include:
- Degree in Architecture, Design, Communications, Writing or Journalism;
- Minimum 6 years of experience working in a design services or AEC environment;
- Creative and self-motivated individual with superior organizational skills;

- Highly developed business acumen;
- Flexibility to work independently or as a team;
- Nimbleness and ability to balance multiple deadlines against competing priorities;
- Fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud and MS Office;
- Advanced graphic skills are an asset.
