PROFILE

The Enterprise Applications Specialist is a senior technical resource responsible for the reliability, security, integration, and continuous improvement of the Firm’s enterprise application portfolio. The role provides advanced support and lifecycle management for cloud, SaaS, and on-premises solutions; partners with business, security, infrastructure, data, and service teams; and translates operational and practice requirements into sustainable technology solutions. Working with limited direction, the Specialist leads complex troubleshooting, technical changes, upgrades, integrations, and application initiatives while promoting automation, governance, documentation, and a consistent user experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide advanced administration and tier 3 support for assigned enterprise applications, resolving complex incidents and problems and coordinating escalation with internal teams and vendors.
  • Manage the application lifecycle for cloud, SaaS, and on-premises solutions, including configuration, upgrades, patching, release planning, testing, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
  • Monitor application availability, performance, capacity, usage, integrations, licensing, and service health; identify trends and implement preventive improvements.
  • Design, configure, support, and troubleshoot integrations using APIs, web services, identity platforms, data exchanges, and middleware.
  • Use SQL and reporting tools to query and validate data, investigate incidents, reconcile information, and support integrations while following data-access and change-control requirements.
  • Develop scripts, workflows, and automation that improve service reliability, repeatability, monitoring, deployment, and administrative efficiency.
  • Apply security, privacy, records management, and data-governance requirements to application configuration, privileged access, authentication, logging, retention, and vendor services.
  • Maintain technical documentation, support procedures, architecture and integration records, configuration standards, knowledge articles, and operational runbooks.
  • Lead or contribute to projects, product evaluations, proofs of concept, migrations, and service improvements; define requirements, risks, test plans, implementation steps, and support-transition activities.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and technology teams to understand needs, evaluate options, recommend solutions, and prioritize enhancements based on value, risk, usability, and supportability.
  • Coordinate vendors and managed service providers, including technical escalations, service reviews, roadmap discussions, licensing, renewals, and performance against contractual commitments.
  • Follow IT service management and change-management practices for incidents, requests, problems, changes, releases, assets, and configuration items; schedule maintenance and communicate service impacts clearly.
  • Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer, and mentoring to service desk analysts, application specialists, trainers, and other technology partners.
  • Support annual planning and forecasting for assigned applications, including licensing, vendor services, upgrades, technical debt, and future investment needs.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance and after-hours support as required, and perform other related duties consistent with the role.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six (6) or more years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise applications in a complex, security-conscious organization; experience in a legal or professional services environment is an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise application administration, troubleshooting, configuration, release management, system analysis, and application lifecycle practices.
  • Experience supporting cloud and SaaS platforms, Microsoft 365 services, Windows-based applications, identity and access management, and hybrid enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency in SQL, including writing and troubleshooting queries, validating and analyzing data, and supporting application databases, reporting, and integrations.
  • Working knowledge of APIs, web services, authentication and authorization standards, file-based integrations, and common enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, workflow platforms, or equivalent technologies.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity, privacy, data governance, privileged access, audit logging, vulnerability and patch management, backup and recovery, and business continuity principles.
  • Knowledge of IT service management, change control, incident and problem management, testing, release practices, and technical documentation; ITIL knowledge is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues, assess risk, evaluate options, and recommend practical, supportable solutions.
  • Strong project coordination, prioritization, time-management, and vendor-management skills, with the ability to manage concurrent operational and project commitments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and produce clear operational and support documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical and business teams, provide guidance to colleagues, and deliver high-quality work in a changing environment.
  • Commitment to client service, continuous learning, inclusive collaboration, and responsible use of enterprise data and technology.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) may be required in some offices.
