Summary
Join GIP Construction Engineering (“GCE”) group as a Field Supervisor based out of Caledon/Greater Toronto Area, Ontario but servicing specialized projects across the Central and Southern Ontario. Reporting to the Quality and/or Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing a team of quality technicians, providing guidance, training, and facilitating material testing for projects spanning across Ontario.
Primary Scope Of Role
- Field inspection and testing of concrete.
- Mentor and train field technicians, evaluating materials for construction project approval.
- Thermocouple temperature monitoring, installation and data collection.
- Assist in management, maintenance, security and certification of equipment.
- Complete field inspection reports, technical field reports and pour summaries as per policies and/or contract requirements.
- Contribute to material testing for aggregates, soils, and concrete.
- Uphold strict adherence to GIP Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor and document Quality Assurance non-conformances, ensuring prompt follow-up.
- Facilitate and oversee ongoing training programs while providing support to fellow supervisors and managers.
- Supervise and coordinate Field Technicians.
- Other duties as required
Position Requirements
- Post-secondary education in a 2- or 3-year college program such as Civil / Construction Engineering, or a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, or a relevant Engineering program is an asset.
- CCIL or ACI concrete certification is preferred.
- Profound understanding of OPSS, ASTM and CSA specifications.
- Minimum of 3 years of direct QC field supervision on construction projects, accompanied by 3 years of field Quality Control experience related to Aggregates and Concrete.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills, enabling effective communication with a diverse array of individuals.
- Aptitude for utilizing cutting-edge technologies.
- Must be able to obtain an OPG security clearance.
- Must have a valid G (or equivalent) driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
- Able to perform heavy lifting >25kg.
- Must be able to travel between projects.
- Must be able to perform shiftwork, including nights and weekends.
- Must be able to work long shifts and extended hours.
What We Offer
- Expected Hourly Rate: $25.00 – $38.00 per hour. The actual hourly rate will depend on several factors including experience, qualifications, internal equity, work location and market expectations.
