Original job description

WHO WE ARE

GreenShield is a proudly Canadian, national non-profit health care and insurance organization, driven by our mission of Better Health for All. We believe health care is a right, not a privilege, and we are committed to improving health outcomes, advancing health equity, and building a future where every Canadian can reach their full health and well-being potential.

Through our unique integrated payer-provider ("payvider") model, we offer insurance, administer benefits, and pay claims as a ‘payer’ while offering health care services such as mental health, pharmacy, telemedicine, and chronic disease management as a ‘provider’. As a non-profit social enterprise without shareholders, we reinvest our excess earnings to directly support underserved communities. Through GreenShield Cares, we positively impacted the health and well-being of over one million Canadians between 2020 and 2025. What’s driving us now is the commitment to measurably impact an additional three million Canadians by 2030 – across mental health, essential medicines, and chronic disease management – through scalable initiatives that deliver meaningful change in pursuit of our mission of Better Health for All.

At GreenShield, our culture is where purpose meets passion and performance. Our teams work as one to deliver meaningful, measurable impact for the people and communities we serve.

THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

GreenShield is seeking a highly motivated, detail‑oriented professional to join our Account Management Team on contract. Reporting to the Director of Account Management, this role is responsible for cultivating strong, long‑term relationships with Advisors and clients while effectively managing, servicing, and retaining an assigned portfolio of group benefits accounts. The Account Manager serves as a trusted partner and advocate for GreenShield, ensuring exceptional service delivery and high levels of client satisfaction across their portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary point of contact for Advisors and clients, fostering strong and collaborative relationships.
Achieve financial objectives related to the growth, retention, and profitability of an assigned block of business.
Deliver exceptional customer service through clear, professional verbal and written communication.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of solutions aligned with client needs, objectives, and plan requirements.
Maintain high levels of client satisfaction through proactive day‑to‑day service and issue resolution.
Monitor and analyze client utilization trends to identify opportunities and risks.
Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams to support seamless service delivery.
Schedule and lead meetings with Advisors and clients to review renewals, discuss plan performance, and recommend plan design changes.
Travel to client locations as required to support relationship management and business development.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to Plan Administrators and Advisors.
Promote GreenShield’s group products, services, and capabilities to enhance client understanding and engagement.
Manage overall group performance by reviewing and analyzing monthly financial reports.
Prepare and implement plan design revisions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Clarify administrative procedures, contractual terms, and product‑specific features for clients and Advisors.
Participate in required training, professional development, and continuing education activities.
Adhere to all carrier compliance requirements and industry regulations.
Understand and comply with applicable government policies related to program eligibility and administration.
Maintain and expand job knowledge through ongoing learning and industry engagement.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Competencies & Qualifications

3–5 years of related experience in account management, group benefits, or insurance.
Knowledge of group benefits eligibility requirements is considered an asset.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and influencing skills.
Self‑starter with a results‑oriented mindset and strong organizational abilities.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and industry involvement.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret client needs and communicate technical information clearly.
LLQP license preferred.
GBA designation or active progress toward completion preferred.

THE CULTURE
We believe a career should be meaningful. Not just a means to earn a living. Our culture is one where everyone's voice is heard and valued. Because that’s what it takes to create better health for all. We dare to challenge the status quo. And we’re driven by people who have challenged theirs. We believe that your workplace should empower you to be the best version of yourself. That’s why we provide a place where you can be inspired, challenged, and rewarded.

Where your growth means our growth.
Where your voice is heard and valued.
Where your work has purpose. And purpose matters.

We believe our people are critical to our overall success. Inclusivity makes us a stronger, smarter and more informed organization. Being intentionally inclusive of diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences will enhance our company culture to positively impact how we support our communities.
