- Strong knowledge of general accounting, month-end close, account reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality or control.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling, data analysis, and efficient manipulation of large data sets.

- Ownership mindset with a bias for action, follow-through, and accountability.
- Self-directed and resourceful, with the ability to assess a task, determine an appropriate approach, and see it to completion.

- High attention to detail, sound professional judgment, and commitment to accurate, well-supported work.
- Ability to remain organized and responsive, manage changing priorities, and maintain accurate work during peak workload periods.
- Collaborative and approachable, with the ability to challenge constructively.

- Analyze balance sheet accounts, including inventory, capital projects, fixed assets, accruals, and other assigned accounts.
- Monitor accounting transactions and operational data for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate period recognition, escalating material issues promptly.
- Support year-end activities, external and internal audits, and requests for financial information.
- Support capital management and project teams with financial tracking and budgeting.
Financial Analysis and Business Partnership
- Investigate actual-to-budget and actual-to-forecast variances across departments, production costs, inventory, freight, chemicals, utilities, and other key plant cost areas.
- Partner with department managers to understand spending, commitments, risks, and opportunities and to improve financial accountability.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and independently take assignments from initial scoping through investigation, recommendation, and completion.
- Develop a strong understanding of plant operations and connect operational activity to financial performance.
- Prepare, and continuously improve, monthly financial reporting for leadership.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Provide substantial support for the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes, including data collection, assumptions, departmental input, consolidation, and variance analysis.
- Work with the Plant Controller and operational leaders to develop supportable budget assumptions and convert operating plans into accurate financial projections.
Other Responsibilities
- Comply with all Company health and safety, environmental, and quality policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide backup and support for critical finance activities as required, including accounts payable and plant accounting processes.
- Provide guidance on sound accounting and system practices and support cross-functional problem solving.
