Company Description GRICS is a Quebec education network organization that provides high-performance digital solutions to support educational stakeholders in their mission. Founded in 1985 by Quebec school boards, GRICS has developed and maintains a wide range of administrative, academic, pedagogical, and data management solutions tailored to the needs of the education sector. The organization is recognized as a leader in data management and artificial intelligence applied to education. More than 2 million people in Quebec, including school staff, teachers, students, and families, rely on GRICS solutions to communicate more effectively, simplify work processes, and increase productivity. GRICS offers approximately thirty software solutions, technical and functional support, implementation services, training, consulting, content development, and hosting.
Role Description The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain robust software solutions that support education-focused digital products and services. This full-time, on-site role in Montreal, QC involves leading back-end and application development projects, reviewing code, and ensuring software quality, performance, and security. The person in this role will collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to translate business and user requirements into scalable technical solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing new features, optimizing existing systems, troubleshooting complex issues, and contributing to architecture and technology choices. The Senior Software Engineer will also mentor other developers, promote best practices, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives and technical documentation.
Qualifications

Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
Proficiency in Software Development and Programming using modern languages and frameworks.
Experience in Back-End Web Development, including APIs, databases, and integration with distributed systems.
Solid understanding and practical application of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree is an asset.
Experience in designing scalable, secure, and maintainable architectures for enterprise or large-scale systems.
Familiarity with cloud-based environments, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing practices.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, communicate clearly, and mentor less-experienced engineers.
Experience in the education sector or with data and AI-driven solutions is an advantage.
Professional proficiency in French and English is considered an asset for collaboration within Quebec’s education network.
