About the Company
Grid Transformation is a specialist electric-utility operational technology advisory firm. We help utilities turn grid-modernization strategy into operational reality across Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Outage Management System (OMS), Distribution Management System (DMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS), and related capabilities. Our work spans strategy and roadmaps, vendor-neutral assessment, requirements and design, program delivery, testing, process engineering, change, deployment, and operational readiness. We bring a practical perspective grounded in how utilities plan, operate, restore, and modernize the distribution grid.
Job Description
We are seeking an Organizational Change Management (OCM) Consultant based in Canada who can connect utility operations, organizational readiness, and technology adoption. You will work with executive sponsors, control-room personnel, engineering, field operations, IT/OT, human resources, learning teams, program teams, vendors, and systems integrators to prepare people for changes to systems, processes, roles, and ways of working. The role supports utility operational technology and grid-modernization programs, including ADMS, OMS, SCADA, AMI, and DERMS. It combines structured change-management practice and Business Process Design (BPD) with hands-on delivery and is suited to someone who is comfortable moving from stakeholder workshops and leadership coaching to communications, training coordination, and readiness assessment.
Develop and deliver change-management strategies and plans aligned with program objectives, delivery milestones, operational risks, and the needs of affected teams.
Conduct stakeholder analysis, change-impact assessments, and readiness assessments across systems, processes, roles, responsibilities, skills, and organizational interfaces.
Translate technical and process changes into clear explanations of what is changing, why it matters, and what each affected group needs to do.
Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to understand concerns, identify adoption barriers, and agree practical actions with stakeholders.
Support executive sponsors, leaders, and supervisors with engagement plans, briefing materials, talking points, and coaching to help them lead change.
Establish and support change-champion networks, feedback channels, and engagement activities across control-room, engineering, field, and support teams.
Develop audience-specific communications and coordinate their review, timing, and delivery through appropriate client channels.
Assess learning needs and work with subject-matter experts and training teams to develop role-based learning plans, materials, job aids, and competency checks.
Coordinate training logistics and completion tracking around shift patterns, operational coverage, and project schedules; assess whether learning translates into readiness.
Lead Business Process Design (BPD) workshops to document current-state processes and develop future-state workflows with business analysts, operational teams, and process owners.
Create and validate process maps, operating narratives, role responsibilities, handoffs, decision points, and controls; identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
Assess the people and operational impacts of process changes and maintain alignment between approved process designs, procedures, training, communications, and readiness plans.
Define adoption and readiness measures, establish baselines where appropriate, and report progress, risks, feedback, and corrective actions to program leadership.
Identify and address resistance and change fatigue through active listening, targeted engagement, and practical improvements to implementation plans.
Support user acceptance activities, cutover rehearsals, go-live communications, hypercare, and readiness decisions; escalate unresolved people and process risks.
Develop sustainment plans and transition change activities to operational owners, including reinforcement, refresher learning, adoption monitoring, and lessons learned.
Requirements
The successful candidate will bring a practical combination of utility knowledge, technical delivery experience, and client-facing communication:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in organizational change management and business process design, supporting technology implementations, business transformation, or operational improvement programs.
Experience working with electric utilities, infrastructure organizations, or other operationally complex environments; utility operational technology experience is strongly preferred.
Practical knowledge of structured change-management approaches and the ability to adapt them to client culture, program scale, and operational needs.
Strong skills in stakeholder analysis, change-impact assessment, engagement planning, communications, learning needs analysis, and readiness assessment.
Practical experience in Business Process Design (BPD), including current- and future-state process mapping, gap analysis, process validation, and stakeholder facilitation.
Ability to translate process designs into clear procedures, role and responsibility definitions, training requirements, and measurable adoption outcomes.
Experience partnering with executive sponsors, managers, frontline teams, subject-matter experts, and project delivery teams to support adoption.
Ability to translate technical and process information into clear, practical communications and learning materials for different audiences.
Experience coordinating role-based training, tracking participation and learning outcomes, and identifying gaps before deployment.
Ability to define useful adoption measures, interpret feedback, and provide evidence-based readiness recommendations.
Excellent written and verbal communication in English, workshop facilitation, stakeholder management, active listening, and sound judgment when addressing disagreement or resistance.
Comfort working with distributed teams and accommodating the shift patterns and service-continuity requirements of utility operations.
A degree in business, organizational development, communications, human resources, psychology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Based in Canada, with willingness to travel to client locations as project assignments require.
Prosci certification, familiarity with ADKAR, or an equivalent change-management qualification is an asset.
Familiarity with BPMN and process-mapping tools such as Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, or equivalent platforms is an asset.
Exposure to ADMS, OMS, SCADA, AMI, DERMS, business-process redesign, unionized workplaces, or change delivery in Canadian utilities is an asset.
French-language communication skills are an asset for assignments involving bilingual stakeholders.
We welcome applicants with different backgrounds and career paths who can demonstrate the capabilities needed to succeed. If your experience does not match every listed asset, we still encourage you to apply and explain the perspective you would bring.
