Original job description

Own revenue. Own the motion. This is not a traditional AE role.

About Ground

What we do: Ground is an AI-enabled platform that uncovers untapped revenue for next-gen consumer companies. We’re creating an ecosystem that reshapes how businesses grow and scale. At Ground, we are reimagining and building the future of growth for the next million consumer businesses changing the world.

From the tools, community, and resources needed to help businesses around the world achieve their visions at scale, Ground powers the experiential consumer. From services, experiences, to product businesses, Ground serves 100+ companies processing over 4 billion data points monthly, in order to add new customers, convert bounced visitors, and predict next purchases for hyper retention.

Who we are: We’re supported by great customers and investors, having raised from world class investors such as Techstars, Ulu Ventures, FFF, Transpose Platform, and amazing angels who have built and backed many unicorns.

Our mission: Elevating businesses worldwide by uncovering their hidden potential.

What you will do

You are responsible for driving net new revenue and pushing our sales motion to the next level. You operate as a builder, not just a closer.

This requires you to:

Own the full sales cycle end-to-end (including building your own pipeline through outreach sequences, cold-calling, etc.)
Turn inbound and outbound opportunities into revenue
Identify patterns in the pipeline and improve conversion rates
Refine messaging, positioning, and objection handling
Collaborate with growth to improve lead quality and volume
Push internally (product, marketing, leadership) to improve win rates
Work directly with founders and growth teams at top brands

You are not here to follow a motion. You are here to build and scale it.

🚀 Your job is to make revenue predictable and growing.

How you operate

You focus on outcomes, not activity metrics
You move fast and iterate constantly
You take ownership of wins and losses
You challenge assumptions and improve systems
You don’t wait for direction - you create it
You think like a founder, not an employee

This is a high-agency role. You are expected to figure things out and make decisions.

Who we’re looking for

You’re a builder who wants to own revenue and shape how we sell. You’re energized by working directly with founders, understanding customers deeply, and turning what you learn into a stronger sales motion.

What sets you apart:

High agency, low ego. You take initiative, follow through, and seek feedback. You build processes that help you move faster and know when to change them.
Deeply curious about customers. You learn how their businesses work, understand their priorities, and connect Ground to outcomes that matter.
Analytical and driven to experiment. You test approaches, measure results, and use what you learn to improve targeting, messaging, and conversion.
A clear, persuasive communicator. You write well, ask thoughtful questions, and make technical concepts easy to understand through compelling stories and concrete business value.
Competitive and accountable. You take pride in winning deals, own your revenue targets, and examine losses honestly to improve.
Comfortable building through ambiguity. You bring structure to open-ended problems and enjoy refining the sales motion alongside founders and early customers.

Experience that sets you up well:

3-5 years in sales or a related role, with direct ownership of revenue outcomes
Experience at an early-stage startup, ideally Pre-Seed to Series B
A track record of building or improving a sales motion
Success as a startup AE, a top-performing SDR who moved into closing, or an operator who transitioned into sales

Your title matters less than evidence that you can learn quickly, earn customer trust, and turn ownership into results.

What will get you rejected

You want a “chill” sales role
You rely on structure instead of creating it
You only execute - you don’t think
You blame leads, product, or pricing
You avoid accountability for results

What you’ll get

Direct ownership of revenue growth
Ability to shape the sales motion from the ground up
Exposure to top consumer brands
A high-velocity environment where you will grow fast
A front-row seat to building a generational company

We are a lean team. Everyone operates with intensity and ownership.

💡 Company values

Ubuntu: “I am because we are”
Excellence through intellectual humility
Move with urgency and focus
Challenge limits and think critically
We value differences

What we offer

🩺 Benefits: Excellent medical, dental and vision benefits
🍁 Location: Toronto, ON (in-person; 4–5 days in the office)
🌍 Offsite retreats: We’ve been to Barcelona, Munich, Portugal, and Montreal - decide where we go next!
🍣 Team activities: Lunches, dinners
🏝️ Unlimited PTO
🕸️ Access to a world-class network: You’ll gain invaluable insights from legendary investors, operators, and leaders. You’ll also be exposed to the minds behind venture studios that built Liquid Death, as well as investors from Serena Williams’ fund, Initialized, and 776, founded by Garry Tan and Alexis Ohanian.

This is a rare opportunity to join us in building a generational company - you’ll learn a lot, build cool products, and grow as our company scales! 💸 We love having many voices and diverse backgrounds shape our work and culture. Most importantly, if you like fast growing growth curves… you will soon be celebrating and be part of major milestones in coming months! 🚀 📈
