Web Applications & AI-Assisted Test Automation

About the Role

We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our quality assurance team and help us validate high-quality, reliable web applications.

This role goes beyond traditional manual testing. You will work closely with product managers, developers, designers, and other QA engineers within Agile sprint cycles to lead develop specific test strategies, identify risks early, automate high-value test cases, and continuously improve product quality.

Our team is also adopting AI-assisted test automation to accelerate the creation and maintenance of automated tests. We are looking for someone who can use AI tools effectively while applying strong QA judgment to review outputs, validate coverage, and confirm that automated tests reflect real product risks.

The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, technically strong, and motivated to improve how web applications are tested, automated, and delivered in alignment with broader product and company goals.

In this role, you will help raise the quality bar for modern web applications by combining thoughtful exploratory testing, Agile collaboration, maintainable Playwright automation, and practical use of AI-assisted testing tools.

What You’ll Do

Test Strategy & Planning

• Review product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Identify functional, integration, usability, and regression risks.
• Develop appropriate test strategies and test scenarios for new features.
• Determine the right balance between automated and exploratory testing.
• Participate in Agile sprint refinement, planning, testing, review, and retrospective activities to help the team identify quality risks early.
• Provide clear visibility into testing progress, risks, and quality concerns.

Web Application Testing

• Perform functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end testing of web applications.
• Validate user workflows across supported browsers and environments.
• Test positive, negative, boundary, and error scenarios.
• Investigate complex defects and provide clear, reproducible information to developers.
• Validate fixes and ensure defects do not introduce regressions.

Test Automation

• Design, develop, maintain, and improve reliable Playwright-based automated test suites for web applications.
• Build automated UI and API tests where appropriate.
• Connect Playwright and other automated tests to CI/CD pipelines to provide fast, reliable feedback during sprint delivery.
• Identify and reduce flaky, redundant, and low-value tests.
• Continuously improve test coverage, reliability, execution time, and maintainability.
• Review automation code and follow good software engineering practices.

AI-Assisted Test Automation

• Use AI-powered tools to accelerate test case generation and automation development.
• Evaluate and validate AI-generated test scenarios and automation code.
• Use AI to identify potential edge cases, gaps in test coverage, and regression risks.
• Use AI-assisted tools to analyze test failures, logs, and defects.
• Help establish effective practices for incorporating AI into the QA automation workflow.
• Continuously evaluate where AI can improve testing efficiency without compromising test quality.

API & Backend Testing

• Validate API responses, error handling, authentication, authorization, and data integrity.
• Use tools such as Postman or automated API testing frameworks.
• Use SQL to validate application data when required.
• Investigate issues across the UI, API, services, and database layers.

CI/CD & Engineering Collaboration

• Investigate failed builds and distinguish between product defects, test failures, and environment issues.
• Work closely with developers to improve testability and quality.
• Contribute to improving development and testing processes.

Quality Improvement

• Analyze production defects and identify opportunities to prevent similar issues.
• Identify gaps in test coverage based on real-world failures.
• Improve quality throughout the software delivery process by strengthening test practices, Playwright automation, and team QA habits.
• Promote a culture where quality is a shared responsibility across Product, Development, and QA teams.

What We’re Looking For

Required

• Experience working with AI-assisted development or testing tools.
• 6+ years of experience in software QA/testing, preferably with web-based applications.
• Strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with test automation.
• Experience with at least one programming language, such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Python.
• Experience testing web applications and understanding browser-based technologies.
• Experience with API testing.
• Familiarity with SQL and database validation.
• Experience working with Agile/Scrum or similar development methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to investigate issues beyond the UI and understand the underlying technical problem.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with developers and product teams.

Preferred

• Software development experience with Microsoft tech stack
• Hands-on experience with Playwright is strongly preferred; experience with Cypress, Selenium, or similar UI automation frameworks is also valuable.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Git practices.
• Experience testing APIs.
• Experience with cloud-based applications and distributed systems.
• Experience with performance testing or accessibility testing.
