Job Summary
The Sales Engineer provides technical expertise throughout the pre-sales process and is responsible for translating customer requirements, technical standards and site information into practical hospitality technology solutions. The role supports network and media opportunities and works closely with Sales, customers, Project Management and Engineering to ensure solutions are technically accurate, commercially complete and ready for implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer requirements, technical standards, drawings, floor plans, surveys, existing network information and other technical documentation.
- Design wired and wireless network solutions for hospitality environments, including appropriate network architecture, equipment selection and placement.
- Develop wireless access point placement plans based on property layout, coverage, capacity and expected usage.
- Develop technical designs for GuestTek media and entertainment solutions and identify the network and infrastructure required to support them.
- Prepare Statements of Work (SOWs), Bills of Materials (BOMs), network designs, AP placement plans and other technical documentation required to quote and implement solutions.
- Ensure proposed solutions meet applicable customer, hotel brand and GuestTek technical standards.
- Identify technical risks, assumptions, dependencies, infrastructure limitations and missing information before a solution is finalized.
- Support site surveys, technical discovery, customer meetings, presentations, demonstrations, RFPs and larger or more complex sales opportunities.
- Work with Sales to ensure proposed solutions are technically accurate and that required hardware, software, licensing and services are included.
- Provide Project Management and Deployment teams with a clear technical handoff once a project is sold.
- Maintain current knowledge of GuestTek products, networking technologies, media solutions and relevant hospitality standards.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary technical education or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–5+ years of experience in network engineering, wireless design, solutions engineering, hospitality technology or a related technical role.
- Strong understanding of wired and wireless networking and enterprise Wi-Fi design.
- Ability to interpret technical standards, drawings, floor plans, network diagrams and site survey information.
- Experience with wireless design and survey tools such as AirMagnet, Ekahau or similar.
- Working knowledge of switching, VLANs, PoE, network segmentation, authentication and common enterprise networking concepts.
- Ability to create professional network diagrams, SOWs, BOMs and technical solution documentation.
- Understanding of hospitality media and entertainment technologies and their network requirements is preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, Sales and internal technical teams.
- Travel may be required.
