Original job description

About Guide Engineering Ltd.

Guide Engineering Ltd. is a well-established civil engineering firm rooted in Chilliwack, British Columbia. For years, we've been proud to serve our local community and the broader Lower Mainland, specializing in civil infrastructure, drainage design, and site servicing projects that shape the places where people live and work. As a small, close-knit team, we believe in doing things differently - our engineers aren't just employees; they're integral members of a collaborative environment where your voice matters, your growth is prioritized, and your contributions directly impact our success. We're seeking a Senior Civil Engineer who is ready to build a career, not just fill a position. This is an opportunity for an experienced professional who values stability, mentorship, and the chance to take genuine ownership of meaningful projects. Working directly alongside our Principal Engineer, Mahyar Niroumand, P.Eng., you'll lead design work, supervise staff, and manage projects from concept through completion. This isn't a stepping stone role - it's a place to invest your expertise and grow with a firm that invests equally in you.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage civil engineering projects including site servicing, drainage systems, and municipal infrastructure
Design and review engineering drawings, specifications, and reports
Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff
Coordinate with clients, municipalities, contractors, and consultants throughout project lifecycles
Conduct site visits and field reviews across the Lower Mainland
Ensure projects meet regulatory requirements, timelines, and quality standards
Contribute to business development and client relationship building

Required Qualifications

Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
5-10 years of progressive civil engineering experience, with substantial work in the Lower Mainland, BC
Demonstrated expertise in civil infrastructure, drainage, and site servicing design
Proven ability to manage projects independently and lead technical staff
Strong understanding of BC Building Code, municipal bylaws, and local regulatory environment
Valid BC driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites regularly
Established roots or genuine commitment to the Chilliwack/Fraser Valley region

Nice To Have

Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other design software
Existing relationships with Lower Mainland municipalities
Project management certification or training
Business development or client management experience

What We Offer

Competitive salary of $100,000+ per year, commensurate with experience
Direct mentorship and collaboration with a Principal Engineer
Genuine opportunities for professional growth and increased responsibility
Variety of interesting projects with real community impact
Stable, long-term career path in a supportive environment
Work-life balance that respects your time and commitments

How To Apply

If you're an experienced civil engineer looking to plant roots and grow with a respected local firm, we'd love to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter explaining why you're interested in building a long-term career with Guide Engineering Ltd. to hr@guideengineering.ca. We're excited to meet candidates who share our values of commitment, quality, and community.
