The Role
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of financial reporting, accounting operations, tax compliance, treasury and financial controls across our growing North American business.
This is a key leadership position within Finance, responsible for ensuring our financial records are accurate, compliant and available to support timely business decisions.
A major focus of this role will be transforming our traditional month-end close into a more automated, continuous close process, improving financial visibility and reducing manual work.
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Strategy, you will work closely with the Billing & Revenue Operations Manager and other teams to strengthen financial processes, support our US expansion and build a scalable finance function.
We're looking for someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, challenges existing processes and takes full ownership of results.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Continuous Close

- Provide weekly financial updates and variance reporting for leadership and EOS Level 10 meetings.
- Reconcile billing activity to the general ledger monthly, partnering with Billing & Revenue Operations.
- Identify reporting discrepancies and implement improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Work toward reducing month-end close timelines to fewer than five business days.
Tax, Compliance & Audit
- Oversee HST, payroll, corporate income tax and other applicable statutory reporting requirements.
- Ensure all tax filings, remittances and compliance deadlines are met accurately and on time.
- Coordinate year-end financial reporting, external accountants and audit requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation supporting tax filings, grant claims and financial compliance.
- Identify potential financial and regulatory risks and ensure appropriate controls are in place.
- Support compliance requirements across Canadian and US operations.
US Entity Structure & Cross-Border Finance
- Lead the financial and accounting components of AMZ Prep's US entity setup.
- Coordinate with external tax, legal and accounting advisers to establish an appropriate cross-border structure.
- Develop and maintain intercompany accounting processes and supporting documentation.
- Support transfer pricing, cross-border tax planning and financial reporting requirements.
- Ensure the US entity setup is completed according to established timelines and business objectives.
Accounts Payable, Treasury & Cash Management
- Oversee accounts payable, vendor payments, bank reconciliations and treasury operations.
- Manage financial processes and reconciliations across platforms including Ramp, BMO and Venn.
- Monitor cash balances, foreign exchange activity and intercompany transactions.
- Ensure accurate financial actuals are provided to support the rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.
- Identify opportunities to improve payment controls, cash visibility and operational efficiency.
Financial Controls, Automation & Process Improvement
- Design, implement and maintain strong internal financial controls embedded into daily workflows.
- Identify manual processes that can be automated to improve accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
- Increase the percentage of financial reconciliations completed automatically.
- Develop clear accounting procedures, approval processes and financial reporting standards.
- Establish and maintain a centralized repository of corporate, tax, compliance and financial records.
- Partner with the Director of Finance & Strategy on financial projects, process improvements and business initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Significant experience in financial accounting, controllership or a senior accounting role.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, financial reporting, reconciliations and internal controls.
- Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
- Solid understanding of Canadian corporate tax, HST, payroll compliance and audit requirements.
- Experience with treasury operations, cash management and financial reporting.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including financial analysis and reporting.
- Experience with accounting software, ERP systems and financial automation tools.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet critical deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving business where processes are continually being improved.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
Nice to Have
- Experience with US entities, cross-border accounting, intercompany transactions and transfer pricing.
- Experience in logistics, fulfillment, transportation, warehousing or a 3PL environment.
- Experience implementing continuous close processes or automating financial reconciliations.
- Familiarity with Ramp, BMO, Venn or similar financial platforms.
- Experience working in an EOS-driven organization.
- Experience supporting growing, multi-entity businesses.
