The Sales Engineer owns the technical and commercial design of our deals. You take a prospect's shipping profile and turn it into a solution we can actually run and a price we can defend: the right warehouse site, the right network of carriers and facilities, and a cost proposal built on real capability and real margin. You own every pricing request from intake to quote delivered, you source and negotiate with the warehouses that support your accounts, and you stay close through the first 90 days to confirm what we sold is what we are delivering. This role sits between Sales, Operations, and Finance, and it is where our network capability meets the customer.
What you will own
- Solution and site selection. Take the pre-sale profile, pick the warehouse on capability and actual site performance, and design the network to deliver it: sites, carriers, cold chain, and documentation Operations can actually run.
- Quoting and cost proposals. Own every pricing request end to end, same-day or next-day, margin-aware, with anything below the floor approved before it reaches the customer.
- Warehouse sourcing and negotiation. Source and negotiate with active and potential sites, optimizing for both capability and margin.
- Analysis and profitability. Parcel, fulfillment, and middle-mile analysis to test cost before quoting, per-account profitability after, and margin improvement across the book.
- Rep support and reporting. Get reps the assets, rate cards, and capability training they need, and own the weekly and L10 pricing metrics and pipeline visibility.
- Post-sale alignment. Through the first 30, 60, and 90 days, confirm what was sold is what is being implemented and that the customer understood the pricing and agreed to the invoice.
Solution and Site Selection
- Scope the opportunity and pick the warehouse as part of discovery, on capability and actual site performance rather than convenience.
- Design the network to deliver it: how many sites and which ones, carriers, cold chain, and the documentation the account requires.
- Confirm the receiving site can manage the account, and get Head of Operations and Network approval on complex deals / RFPs and handle the RFP proposals
- Flag go/no-go risks early: Temperature, capabilities, integrations, tech, SFP, vendor central, cold chain, timing…etc.
Quoting and Cost Proposals
- Own every pricing request end to end, from intake to quote delivered, same-day or next-day.
- Build margin-aware quotes and complete cost proposals ready for customer sign-off.
- Model custom rate cards, and route anything below the margin floor through approval before it reaches the customer.
- Join customer calls to present where accuracy matters, and hold the right structure when the client's ask is not the right answer.
Warehouse Sourcing and Negotiation
- Source and negotiate with active and potential warehouses to support accounts.
- Optimize for both capability and margin, not one at the expense of the other.
- Bring on new carriers and warehouse partners, including the analysis and quotes to get them live.
Analysis and Profitablity
- Run parcel, fulfillment, and middle-mile analysis to test cost and feasibility before quoting.
- Analyze warehouse performance to inform site selection.
- Build per-account profitability, and own it after the quote as well as before it.
- Drive margin improvement across the existing book, not just margin protection on new deals.
