Position Overview

Hace Mechanical Corp. is seeking a motivated and technically knowledgeable Technical Development Manager to support the continued growth of our commercial and industrial mechanical services division.

The Technical Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, maintaining strong client relationships, developing technical solutions, supporting estimating and proposal preparation, and managing projects from initial opportunity through execution and completion.

This position combines business development, technical sales, engineering coordination, and project management and requires someone who understands mechanical systems while also being comfortable working directly with clients, consultants, suppliers, general contractors, and field personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and develop new commercial and industrial business opportunities throughout the GTA and surrounding markets.
Build and maintain relationships with facility managers, property managers, general contractors, engineers, manufacturers, and industrial clients.
Meet with clients to understand operational requirements, mechanical issues, project objectives, budgets, and schedules.
Conduct site visits in coordination with business development director and assist in developing practical technical solutions for HVAC, refrigeration, boiler, hydronic, plumbing, piping, ventilation, and other mechanical systems.
Prepare and coordinate quotations, proposals, budgets, scopes of work, and technical submissions.
Review drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, tender documents, and client requirements.
Work with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain equipment selections, technical information, pricing, and lead times.
Support project estimating, material takeoffs, labour planning, equipment selection, and subcontractor coordination.
Negotiate project scope, commercial terms, pricing, and change requirements within company authorization.
Manage awarded projects from initial handover through procurement, scheduling, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
Coordinate with Hace Mechanical field supervisors, technicians, tradespeople, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients.
Monitor project schedules, labour requirements, material procurement, costs, changes, and overall project performance.
Identify additional work and service opportunities within existing customer accounts.
Maintain accurate records of opportunities, quotations, project progress, client communications, and follow-up activities with in Company CRM system.
Represent Hace Mechanical professionally during client meetings, site meetings, project reviews, and industry events.
Update Business development team on project progress on a weekly basis.

Qualifications

Experience in commercial or industrial HVAC, mechanical contracting, construction, engineering, technical sales, or project management.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognized university is required, with a Mechanical Engineering degree strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems including Refrigeration, hydronics, piping, ventilation, plumbing, and associated equipment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, and technical documentation.
Experience preparing quotations, budgets, scopes of work, and technical proposals.
Strong client-facing, communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple opportunities and active projects simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate field operations, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
Practical understanding of project costs, labour requirements, procurement, scheduling, and construction processes.
Valid Ontario driver’s licence and ability to travel to customer and project sites as required.

Role Objective

The primary objective of the Technical Development Manager is to generate profitable business opportunities for Hace Mechanical and successfully develop those opportunities into completed projects and long-term customer relationships.

Success in this position will be measured through business development activity, new and existing customer growth, project acquisition, profitability, customer satisfaction, project execution, and the development of recurring service and maintenance opportunities.
