NOTICE OF PERMANENT M.A.S.S. VACANCY

Position: Programs Supervisor - LINC & ESL

Salary Range: Band 6: $ 84,502.00 to $100,770.00

Location: Bateman Community Centre, 5151 New Street, Burlington, ON

Work Schedule: 35 hours/week, 11 months/year

Effective Date: Monday, November 2, 2026

Halton District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the position of LINC/ESL Program Supervisor.

Position Summary

Under the leadership of the Gary Allan Learning Centres, the LINC/ESL program delivers language training programs to newcomers to Canada over the age of 18 through funding from IRCC and MLITSD. The Supervisor of this program liaises with school administration, staff, students and the wider community to facilitate all day-to-day operations of the program, including overseeing program budgets, writing periodic reports, and supervising office staff. As well, the Supervisor is responsible for hiring and onboarding program staff & instructors.

Job Responsibilities

Supervise office staff to deliver accurate and efficient learner course registration, to update attendance regularly ensuring accurate data at all times.
Supervise instructor team to ensure adherence to program policy and all curricular guidelines.
Coordinate and approve classroom coverage and supply teachers.
Collate and upload monthly data for iCARE and HARTs systems.
Coordinate marketing, promotion and outreach efforts, as needed, liaising with the HDSB Communications Department, as necessary.
Continuously improve processes and systems to ensure efficiency, consistency & program best practices.
Assist with accurate and timely tracking of payroll information for contract and occasional staff.
Coordinate all purchases to ensure proper approval, budget availability, compliance to procurement procedures, to ensure orders are placed in a timely manner in order to meet the needs of the school
Regularly update program-related documents on all platforms (myHDSB, Google Classroom, etc.) to ensure clarity of purpose, as needed
Assist with recruitment and onboarding of contract and occasional staff, including creating and issuing contracts for occasional staff.
Work closely with the leadership of the Gary Allan Learning Centres to develop new pathways for adult ESL learners.
Maintain records and coordinate periodic reports required by IRCC and MLITSD.
Prepare, source and support ordering of instructional materials, instructional equipment, and furniture for all programs.
Communicate frequently with external organizations, including community partners, as needed.
Assist other staff with duties assigned by the administrator.

Qualifications

Education:

Post-secondary diploma or certificate in project management or equivalent

Experience

Experience in an equivalent position
Knowledge and experience of adult LINC/ESL programs in a supervisory capacity, an asset
Knowledge and experience related to School Cash Online, an asset.

Position Specific Skills

Excellent technical skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Suite)
Sound knowledge of HDSB-internal applications, an asset
Knowledge of IRCC and MLITSD reporting platforms (HARTs & iCARE), an asset.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially with external stakeholders.
Exemplary conflict prevention and management skills; ability to diffuse situations
Effective decision making, ability to work independently, and collaborate and consult as necessary
