Original job description

Location: Vancouver, BC (On-Site - Open to Relocation)

Salary: $125k-$160k

About the Opportunity

I'm supporting a rapidly growing Canadian robotics and AI company whose technology is being deployed by leading manufacturers across automotive and industrial automation environments.

The team is scaling quickly and looking for a Mechatronics Engineer who enjoys solving multidisciplinary problems across robotics, automation, hardware, sensors, testing and software.

This isn't a pure mechanical, electrical, controls, firmware or PLC role. It's a highly hands-on engineering position for someone who enjoys building systems, running experiments, troubleshooting hardware and helping bring automation concepts into reality.

What You'll Be Working On

Design, build and support robotic test cells, fixtures and proof-of-concept systems
Integrate sensors, cameras, actuators and automation equipment into robotic platforms
Create mechanical designs and fixtures using CAD tools like SolidWorks
Support PLC controlled systems, controls integration and automation workflows
Develop and execute test plans for robotic systems and hardware platforms
Collect, analyze and document performance, validation and reliability data
Investigate system failures and perform root-cause analysis across mechanical, electrical and software domains
Integrate mechanical, electrical and software systems into functioning robotic, automation and test platforms
Support hardware evaluation, environmental testing and system characterization efforts
Work closely with robotics, software and hardware engineers on new product and prototype development

Required Experience

3-5+ years of mechatronics engineering experience
Experience working with physical products and systems
Hands-on exposure to robotics, automation equipment or similar industrial systems
PLC programming or industrial controls exposure
Python, C++ or scripting experience
Strong troubleshooting and debugging
Experience using SolidWorks, Onshape or similar CAD tools
Sensor integration, instrumentation or testing experience
Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects

Nice to Have

Robotics programming experience
Machine vision or camera system experience
Automated test equipment or validation experience
Startup or small-team engineering experience
Exposure to manufacturing, robotics or intelligent automation systems
