Original job description

Archived listing. The details below describe a past opening.

We take play seriously. We’re looking for curious adventurers ready to find their party, fueled by imagination and drive to build what’s never been built before. At Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, you’ll collaborate with passionate teams to reimagine our iconic brands and create experiences that spark joy, connection, and community through the magic of play. This is your chance to shape legendary play that lasts a lifetime.

At Invoke, we believe the best games come from people who love what they do, in an environment that values them and their ideas. We ensure that everyone has the opportunity to contribute to our collective success, whatever their role. As a member of Wizards of the Coast, we help enrich a catalog of games that has inspired gamers and developers for decades.

Invoke is looking for a senior Development tester to work closely with developers and test their work in the editor or in preflight builds before it reaches the rest of the team. Dev testers work close to the code and content, so your bugs point to root causes rather than symptoms.

You'll be embedded with one or more cells or crafts and grow into a specialist on their features. You'll help catch risky changes early, validate fixes quickly, and keep the main branch stable for everyone. You will also help create Test Cases on your assigned features to deploy to the Functionality QA team.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with the team to understand the overall game vision and documentation.
  • Identify bugs and assist in developing test plans for features
  • Follow up on functionality bugs found by internal and external teams, and assist in sorting, prioritizing, and assigning them the right developers internally
  • Work with others to fix features, suggest solutions to setbacks, and share knowledge
  • Meet with the development team to discuss progress and provide creative input
  • Build test gyms for the team
  • Create custom game versions, reproducing bugs to evaluate their risks
  • Write and maintain documentation, detailing bugs found, their sources and what information to provide to assist developers in resolving them
  • Contribute to coming up with ideas for automated tests & solutions to optimize the testing process
  • Assist with the analysis of test results.

What you bring:

  • 5 years+ of QA experience in video games, with 2 years of development QA experience
  • Hands-on experience testing inside a game engine editor (Unreal Engine preferred).
  • Strong bug-writing skills: clear summaries, reliable repro steps, and good judgment on severity and priority.
  • Ability to isolate issues and narrow down root causes, not just report symptoms.
  • Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence, or similar tracking and documentation tools.
  • Familiarity with version control (Perforce or Git) and syncing to specific changelists.
  • Experience testing on current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) and PC.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate clearly with developers across disciplines.
  • Self-directed: comfortable choosing test approaches when features change often.
  • Passion for games and a good eye for player experience.
  • Proficiency in English is essential for this position as it involves regular collaboration with internal teams, partners and clients located outside of Quebec
  • Functional French is required for this position

Bonus Modifer

  • Experience as a Data Analyst
  • Experience with performance profiling
  • Familiarity with crash-reporting
  • Experience with platform certification requirements
  • Ability to use AI to help optimize your work & workflows
  • Programming experience
