The Project Controller is responsible for providing the information to enable the setup, control, performance measurement and ongoing management of Hatch’s services to our clients. Such responsibilities include developing estimates, confirming, loading, maintaining and managing changes to times codes, obtaining progress from various systems, analysing performance and variances and reporting. Project Controllers work very closely with Project Managers and engineering discipline leads.
Responsibilities:
- A strong personal commitment to safety
- Confirm progress measurement and earned value methodology and initiate progress reporting. Verify project controls execution plan, trend gaps and distribute to Project Manager.
- Establish project controls baselines
- Confirm periodic reporting and meeting requirements including the content, format and frequency. Publish the project reporting calendar showing cut-off dates, submission due dates and issues dates.
- Initiate periodic reporting.
- Develop, verify, or confirm work-hour estimates and schedules for EPCM services.
- Setup time charge codes, associated budgets, and work breakdown structures, tied to schedule. Setup and maintain the EPCM performance measurement system including the establishment of baseline estimates (hours and costs), work hour and progress curves.
- In conjunction with other project personnel, develop staffing plans. Populate resource planning system and update regularly.
- Develop and maintain project change and trend registers. Ensure that the EPCM services budget and forecast are aligned with the project change and trend registers
- Perform regular reporting (weekly/monthly) on engineering and project progress using earned value methodologies. Maintain the forecast to go and/or estimate at completion.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Engineering, Commerce, or Business education background
- 4 – 10 years experience in project controls
- Eligibility for membership in AACEi
- Excellent analytical, writing and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and a key factor is that the incumbent is deliverables driven
- Experience in the, consolidated preparation, collation and presentation of project, financial and other reports.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and Word skills
- Ability to interact successfully with all levels of staff, clients and vendors
Base salary range: $72,000 - $105,000
