Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise and Operational Risk Management, the Senior Analyst, Enterprise Risk Management is the Bank’s primary dedicated ERM analyst and is responsible for coordinating and supporting the operation of core ERM processes. The position independently manages recurring ERM reporting and governance activities, analyzes and challenges risk information from stakeholders across the Bank, and supports the continued development of the Bank’s ERM and selected operational risk management programs.

The Senior Analyst works directly with the Director ERM in preparing material for senior management and Board committees. Established processes are managed with limited supervision, while higher-judgment matters such as risk appetite design, policy development, ICAAP analysis, regulatory interpretation, and changes to the ERM framework are completed in collaboration with the Director.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

Enterprise Risk Management Committee reporting: Coordinate the monthly ERMC reporting cycle, including requesting and reviewing submissions, preparing recurring dashboards and reporting, drafting selected commentary and presentations, consolidating materials, and performing quality assurance over the committee package.
Board risk governance reporting: Support the preparation of risk materials for the Board Governance Committee and other Board reporting, including gathering information, updating dashboards, drafting selected analysis and commentary, and reviewing material for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
Committee administration and follow-up: Attend ERMC meetings as recording secretary, prepare meeting minutes, maintain action logs, and coordinate follow-up with accountable owners. Support meeting materials while the broader agenda and areas of focus are established by the Director and Chief Risk Officer.
Risk appetite indicators and reporting: Maintain the Bank’s central inventory of quantitative and qualitative risk appetite indicators, coordinate indicator reporting, review and challenge submissions, analyze results and trends, monitor breaches and exceptions, and support escalation and governance reporting.
Risk appetite indicator change governance: Act as the central change authority and administrator for risk appetite indicators. Engage business and risk owners to identify changes in the Bank’s risk profile, assess whether new or revised indicators may be required, and support the development of definitions, thresholds, data sources, and reporting requirements in consultation with the Director.
ICAAP support: Support assigned components of the annual Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process, including coordinating inputs, performing research and analysis, updating selected sections, maintaining supporting documentation, and helping respond to review comments and information requests.
ERM issues management coordination: Maintain the inventory of Risk-owned issues, monitor action plans and target dates, follow up with accountable owners, review status updates for completeness, maintain supporting evidence, and prepare reporting on overdue, extended, or significant items.
Risk policy governance: Coordinate the governance lifecycle for Risk-owned policies, including maintaining the policy inventory and review schedule, monitoring renewals, coordinating stakeholder reviews and approvals, maintaining version control and governance records, and supporting updates to existing policies. Participate in policy development under the direction of senior Risk team members.
Risk culture monitoring and enhancement: Support delivery of actions arising from the Bank’s risk culture gap assessment, coordinate selected improvement initiatives, maintain a risk culture dashboard, analyze indicators and trends, monitor progress against identified opportunities, and support periodic management and Board reporting.
Regulatory and industry developments: Maintain an understanding of applicable OSFI guidance and relevant industry practices. Support assessments of regulatory developments and help the Bank’s ERM programs, reporting, policies, and practices evolve in a manner proportionate to its size, complexity, and risk profile.
Stakeholder engagement and independent review: Build effective relationships across the Bank, coordinate ERM deliverables, challenge submissions where information is incomplete, inconsistent, unclear, or unsupported, and escalate material concerns to the Director.
ERM and ORM program support: Support other enterprise and operational risk management initiatives, assessments, reporting, and special projects based on Risk team priorities and the evolving needs of the Bank.

Qualifications & Experience:

Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications:

University degree in business, commerce, finance, economics, accounting, risk management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
A relevant professional designation or progress toward one, such as CPA, CIA, CRM, FRM, or another risk, audit, or financial services qualification, is considered an asset but is not required.

Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:

One to three years of relevant professional experience in enterprise risk management, operational risk management, internal audit, regulatory compliance, management consulting, financial services governance, or a related field.
Experience in a federally regulated financial institution or another regulated financial services environment is considered an asset.
Experience coordinating deliverables across multiple stakeholders and preparing materials for management or governance committees is considered an asset.
Strong analytical capability and demonstrated ability to interpret information, identify trends and gaps, and translate complex matters into clear, decision-useful reporting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and exceptional organization and time-management skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with Power BI or other data analysis and visualization tools is an asset. A demonstrated interest and ability to use AI and emerging data tools to improve reporting and processes is expected.
