Hays has partnered with an established firm with offices in Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver that is seeking an Architect with healthcare design experience to join its growing Vancouver studio. This award-winning, sustainability-focused firm brings together architects, designers, and engineers to deliver innovative healthcare, institutional, and public-sector projects that create lasting impact in communities across Canada. This is a FT in-office role with flexible hours.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and delivery of community-based healthcare projects from concept through construction.
- Manage projects including primary care clinics, ambulatory care facilities, community health centres, medical office buildings, and continuing care facilities.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including architects, engineers, consultants, and healthcare planning specialists.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, design quality, and technical documentation throughout all project phases.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions with healthcare operators, clinicians, user groups, health authorities, and public-sector clients.
- Develop patient-centred, functional design solutions that support operational efficiency, accessibility, and long-term adaptability.
- Navigate healthcare regulations, standards, approvals, and funding requirements.
- Lead presentations, client meetings, and design reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide construction administration support, including site reviews, RFIs, submittals, and contract administration.
- Mentor and support junior architects, technologists, and project team members.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience, ideally in progressive healthcare facilities design and registration with AIBC or similar
- Bachelors or Master’s in architecture from an accredited college or university
- Experience leading healthcare projects from planning and design through construction administration
- Experience delivering community-based healthcare facilities, including clinics, ambulatory care, primary care, continuing care, and medical office projects
- Strong understanding of healthcare planning, user-group engagement, accessibility standards, and healthcare regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated project leadership, client management, mentorship, and business development experience
- LEED AP or sustainable design experience considered an asset
- Experience working with Indigenous and First Nations communities considered an asset
The successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package $100,000 - $130,000 (depending on experience) and extended benefits & health spending.
