With a growing portfolio across the GTA, they are looking to add a Capital Planner / Coordinator to their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in buildings, capital planning, and project coordination who wants to develop their experience within an engineering consulting environment.

Your New Role

As a Capital Planner / Coordinator, you will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of Reserve Fund Studies for a variety of properties. Working alongside engineers and project managers, you will help gather information, coordinate and participate in site reviews, assess building assets, and contribute to long-term capital plans.

The position offers a good balance between field work, technical reporting, project coordination, and client interaction. It would suit someone from an engineering, building science, architectural technology, facilities, construction, or property-related background who wants to develop their expertise in capital planning and building asset management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist with capital replacement schedules, lifecycle forecasts, and long-term capital expenditure planning.
  • Coordinate with contractors, building operators, property managers, and condominium boards to gather project information and clarify existing building conditions.
  • Prepare technical reports, reserve fund tables, and supporting documentation with guidance from senior engineering and project staff.
  • Track project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and client communication across multiple assignments.
  • Participate in client meetings to discuss findings, recommendations, and upcoming capital requirements.
  • Support building condition assessments and other capital planning projects as required.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Building Science, Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.
  • 2-5+ years of relevant experience within reserve fund studies, capital planning, building condition assessments, property or facilities management, engineering consulting, construction, or a related environment.
  • Good understanding of building systems and construction assemblies, ideally across mechanical, electrical, structural, roofing, and building envelope components.
  • Strong organization and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Comfortable conducting site inspections and documenting existing building conditions.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to contribute to clear, professional technical reports.
  • Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort working with project coordination and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of condominium buildings and reserve fund studies would be a strong asset.
  • EIT, BCIN, CET, PMP, RRO, or another relevant designation is an asset but not required.
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

Who Will Succeed in This Role

The right person will be detail-oriented, organized, curious, and genuinely interested in buildings. You should enjoy understanding how building components perform over time and be comfortable dividing your time between site work, technical documentation, and project coordination.

You do not need to be a licensed engineer. Candidates could come from engineering, architecture, building science, facilities, construction, property management, or another relevant technical background. More important is your understanding of buildings, ability to manage detail, and willingness to continue developing your technical knowledge.

What You Will Get in Return

You'll work alongside experienced engineering professionals and gain exposure to a variety of residential and mixed-use properties across the GTA. For someone looking to build a longer-term career in capital planning, engineering consulting, building science, asset management, or project management, there is plenty of opportunity to develop.

You’ll receive a competitive salary, negotiable based on experience ($80k-$110k) and performance-based bonus, alongside comprehensive health and dental benefits, flexible working hours, a hybrid working model following probation, and reduced hours on Fridays all year round. This GTA-based role offers a varied mix of office, remote, and field-based work, with regular travel to client properties and paid mileage for business-related travel. You’ll work closely with experienced engineering and project management professionals, gaining exposure to a broad range of building consulting projects while benefiting from technical training, mentorship, and ongoing professional development and educational support. The company also offers regular social events and team activities as part of a collaborative working environment. A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
