Your New Company
Our client is a highly regarded boutique family law firm in downtown Toronto with a sophisticated practice and an excellent reputation in the legal community. The firm offers a collaborative, professional and team-oriented environment, with lawyers and clerks working closely together on complex family law matters.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Family Law Clerk looking to join a leading practice where you can take ownership of your work, build a strong relationship with the lawyer you support and continue developing your expertise.
Your New Role
As Family Law Clerk, you will work closely with a busy, high-performing associate who is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented clerk who can stay one step ahead and deliver consistently excellent work.
This is not a traditional position focused exclusively on substantive clerking. The firm's clerks work in a hybrid Clerk/Legal Assistant capacity, taking ownership of both substantive family law work and the administrative responsibilities required to keep a busy practice running smoothly.
You will assist with the preparation and organization of family law documentation, correspondence, file and deadline management, court-related materials and general administrative support. You will need to be highly organized, adaptable and comfortable working with a lawyer who has high standards and established processes for how work is completed.
The position has a productivity target of approximately 70 billable hours per month.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To succeed in this position, you will bring:
- 3+ years of relevant family law clerk experience
- Strong knowledge of Ontario family law procedures and documentation
- Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy
- The ability to balance substantive clerking responsibilities with administrative support
- Strong calendar, deadline and file-management skills
- A proactive mindset and the ability to anticipate what needs to happen next
- The ability to adapt to established processes and individual working styles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy practice
- A collaborative and professional approach
This is not an entry-level opportunity. The firm is looking for someone who can step into an established practice, take ownership of their responsibilities and develop a strong long-term working relationship with the lawyer they support.
What You'll Get in Return
This opportunity offers an attractive compensation and benefits package, including:
- Three remote working days per week
- Base salary of $80,000–$95,000, with flexibility for a particularly senior candidate
- 4 weeks of vacation
- Annual bonus
- 100% employer-paid benefits
- $150 quarterly wellness allowance
- Work-from-home equipment allowance, including support for monitors and related equipment
- Summer hours from June through August, with the office closing at 1:00 p.m. on Fridays
- Friday half-days leading into long weekends
- Regular firm events and a strong social culture
For an experienced Family Law Clerk looking for excellent compensation, generous time off and the opportunity to become an integral part of a sophisticated family law practice, this is an excellent long-term career opportunity.
