Original job description
Your new company
Our client is a well-established and growing Montreal-based manufacturer operating in a highly specialized, technology-driven environment. With a longstanding reputation for quality, innovation, and customer partnerships, the organization serves sophisticated markets requiring complex production, inventory management, and operational excellence. Employees enjoy a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture with long tenure, strong leadership accessibility, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the business.
Your new role
Reporting to senior leadership, the Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and internal controls for the organization. This is a hands-on position that combines traditional controllership responsibilities with significant exposure to manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, work-in-progress analysis, banking relationships, government funding programs, and operational decision support. The successful candidate will work closely with production, purchasing, engineering, and executive management to provide accurate and timely financial information that drives business performance.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will hold a CPA designation and bring progressive experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager capacity. You will possess strong expertise in inventory accounting, product costing, labour and overhead allocations, variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and ERP systems. Beyond your technical capabilities, you are a hands-on finance professional who enjoys digging into the details, partnering with operations, improving processes, and taking ownership of outcomes. Experience working with banks, government agencies, financing programs, audits, and year-end processes will be considered a strong asset.
What you'll get in return
This is an excellent opportunity for a high-performing finance professional seeking broad exposure and visibility within a privately held organization. You will inherit a mandate to strengthen reporting, improve financial processes, and become a trusted business partner to senior leadership. The organization offers a stable and collaborative environment, comprehensive group benefits, long-term career growth potential, and the opportunity to play a key role in the future direction of the finance function. A competitive compensation package will be offered commensurate with experience. The salary range is dependent on candidate's experience and seniority, which can go up to $150,000.00, with full benefits and 4 weeks of paid vacation.
