Senior Full Stack Developer

Job Type: Contract (6 Months)

Location: Toronto, ON

Work Model: Hybrid (3 Days Onsite per Week)

Compensation: Up to $70/hour

Our client is seeking experienced Senior Full Stack Developers to join a high-performing Agile team delivering both on-premises and cloud-native applications within the financial services sector.

This role is ideal for highly collaborative engineers who enjoy working across the full technology stack and are comfortable contributing beyond a single specialization. Successful candidates will play a key role in building new features, enhancing platform capabilities, improving engineering practices, and supporting the ongoing evolution of enterprise applications.

What You'll Do

Software Development

• Design, develop, and deliver new application features across both front-end and back-end components.
• Build scalable and maintainable solutions using:
• Java
• Kotlin
• Spring Framework
• Hibernate
• Node.js
• React
• TypeScript
• JavaScript
• Contribute to the development of cloud-native and enterprise applications.

Agile Delivery

• Actively participate in:
• Sprint Planning
• Daily Stand-Ups
• Sprint Reviews
• Sprint Retrospectives
• Sprint Execution Activities
• Collaborate closely with developers, testers, product owners, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

Cloud & DevOps

• Develop and deploy applications within AWS environments.
• Manage cloud resources responsibly with a focus on security, scalability, reliability, and cost optimization.
• Work with services including:
• AWS ECS
• Fargate
• S3
• API Gateway
• IAM
• CloudFormation
• CloudWatch
• Lambda
• Support deployment automation and cloud-native development practices.

Quality & Engineering Excellence

• Participate in peer code reviews and maintain high engineering standards.
• Design and implement:
• Unit Tests
• Integration Tests
• System Tests
• Performance Tests
• Load Tests
• Contribute to debugging, optimization, refactoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Database Development

• Work with relational databases and data models.
• Build and optimize SQL queries and database interactions.
• Support application development using PostgreSQL and related database technologies.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Required Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise applications and backend services.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with:
• Java
• Spring
• Hibernate
• Node.js
• Strong experience with:
• React
• JavaScript
• TypeScript
• Redux
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

Cloud & Infrastructure

• 3+ years of experience developing and deploying applications on AWS.
• Strong understanding of:
• CloudFormation
• CloudWatch
• IAM
• ECS
• Fargate
• S3
• Networking
• Lambda

Databases

• Strong SQL skills.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Basic PL/SQL knowledge.

Additional Skills

• Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
• Comfortable working with Python.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including:
• Debugging
• Performance Tuning
• Code Management
• Branching Strategies
• Refactoring
• Design Patterns

Nice to Have

• Kotlin experience.
• Elasticsearch or NoSQL database experience.
• Experience building highly scalable cloud-native applications.
• Financial services industry experience.
