Original job description

Your New Company

Our client is a growing organization delivering complex telecommunications and infrastructure projects across a diverse portfolio. With a strong focus on operational excellence, financial discipline, safety, and client satisfaction, the business has built its reputation on delivering projects efficiently while maintaining high quality standards. The company operates within a collaborative, methodology-driven environment where clear processes, accountability, and continuous improvement are central to project success.

As the business continues to expand, they are seeking an experienced Head of Construction to lead project delivery teams and drive successful execution from project handover through to closeout.

Your New Role

As Head of Construction, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of construction projects from design, pre-construction handover through completion. You will oversee a team of project managers, construction managers, superintendents, and field staff, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You will provide both operational and strategic leadership across the construction function, translating approved scopes, budgets, and schedules into effective execution plans while protecting project profitability and maintaining strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing leadership and oversight across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with company delivery standards and client expectations.
Managing project financial performance, including forecasting, cost control, buyout strategy, change management, and gross profit protection.
Leading project scheduling and execution activities, ensuring teams proactively manage resources, materials, subcontractors, site logistics, and critical milestones.
Driving accountability for change order management and ensuring all scope changes are properly documented, approved, and communicated before work proceeds.
Maintaining strong client relationships through regular communication, issue resolution, project reporting, and successful project outcomes.
Overseeing project quality assurance and safety programs, including site audits, compliance initiatives, deficiency management, and continuous improvement efforts.
Leading project mobilization, handovers, closeout activities, final cost reviews, and project record completion.
Managing subcontractor and supplier relationships while evaluating performance, capacity, quality, and overall project contribution.
Providing mentorship, coaching, performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, and succession planning for both office and field teams.
Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders across pre-construction, design, finance, sales, and operations to ensure seamless project execution.
Delivering regular reporting to senior leadership on project performance, financial forecasts, risk management activities, resource planning, and corrective action initiatives.
Promoting a culture of accountability, transparency, safety, collaboration, and proactive problem-solving across the organization.

What You Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

A degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience leading construction projects, with a strong background in project delivery, operations, and field leadership.
Demonstrated experience managing project financials, forecasting, budgeting, cost control, change management, and margin protection.
Strong understanding of construction scheduling, procurement, subcontractor management, quality control, and project controls.
Proven experience leading and developing high-performing project teams and field personnel.
Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and client-facing skills.
Sound commercial judgement with the ability to make informed decisions in fast-paced project environments.
Experience delivering telecommunications, utility, infrastructure, mission-critical, industrial, or similar complex construction projects is considered an asset.
Familiarity with design-build project delivery methodologies is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management, scheduling, and cost reporting software.
Ability to travel to project sites and meet with clients, consultants, and trade partners as required.
A demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Get in Return

In return, you will join a growing and entrepreneurial organization where you can make a meaningful impact on project delivery, operational performance, and team development. The compensation package is competitive based on experience + bonus, 3 weeks of vacation + holiday closures, a full health benefit package, travel reimbursement, and additional company perks. This senior leadership position offers the opportunity to lead a critical construction function, influence company-wide project delivery strategies, and work closely with stakeholders across operations, finance, project management, and client services. You will play a key role in shaping team culture, mentoring and developing future leaders, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the business. The role also provides exposure to complex infrastructure and telecommunications projects, supported by a collaborative environment with strong cross-functional partnerships. Along with a competitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits, you will have the opportunity for long-term career growth with an organization committed to safety, accountability, quality, and delivering exceptional outcomes for its clients.
