Project Director

We are working with an established general contractor looking to add an experienced Project Director to its senior leadership team.

This is a senior position for someone who can provide oversight across multiple projects OR one large project while supporting project teams, strengthening client relationships and ensuring projects are delivered successfully from both an operational and commercial perspective.

The successful candidate will bring strong general contracting experience along with the ability to lead people, manage complex projects and provide strategic direction across a growing portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level oversight across multiple construction projects from preconstruction through completion.
• Lead, mentor and support Project Managers and project teams.
• Maintain senior-level client relationships and act as an escalation point when required.
• Oversee project financial performance including budgets, forecasting, cost control, change management and profitability.
• Review project schedules, procurement strategies and key risks to ensure projects remain on track.
• Support preconstruction activities including budgeting, constructability, project planning and handover.
• Provide oversight on contracts, commercial risk and change management.
• Work closely with field leadership to ensure alignment between site and project management teams.
• Support resource planning and staffing requirements across active and upcoming projects.
• Develop and mentor future leaders within the business.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and trade partners.
• Contribute to broader operational planning and business strategy.

What You Bring

• Extensive construction experience, ideally with a commercial general contractor.
• Experience at the Project Director, Construction Manager, Senior Project Manager or similar level.
• Proven experience overseeing large and/or multiple concurrent construction projects.
• Strong understanding of project financials, contracts, forecasting, scheduling, procurement and risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop Project Managers and project teams.
• Strong client-facing and relationship management skills.
• Experience working collaboratively across project management, preconstruction and field operations.
• Construction Management, Engineering or related post-secondary education is preferred, although equivalent industry experience will be considered.
• Gold Seal, PMP, P.Eng. or other relevant professional designation would be considered an asset.

You are an experienced construction leader who understands both the operational and commercial sides of project delivery. You can stay close enough to the details to identify risks early, while giving your teams the autonomy and support they need to successfully deliver their projects.

You are commercially minded, confident dealing with clients and comfortable having difficult conversations when required. Just as importantly, you enjoy developing people and creating strong, accountable project teams.
