Senior Accountant

The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established organization within the real estate and construction industry, is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant / Project Accountant to join their Langley team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting for assigned entities and/or projects
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements and reporting packages
• Complete month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations
• Manage project accounting, including tracking project costs, budgets and financial performance
• Monitor costs and investigate budget-to-actual variances
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash management processes
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
• Support year-end audit requirements and liaise with external accountants/auditors
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure internal controls and processes are followed
• Partner with project managers and other operational stakeholders to provide timely financial information
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting and efficiencies
• Assist with additional accounting and finance projects as required

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Previous experience within real estate development, construction or a closely related industry
• Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting
• Experience with project/job cost accounting is strongly preferred
• CPA designation completed or nearing completion
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting/ERP systems
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Collaborative, approachable team player who is comfortable working across accounting and operations
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Compensation & Location

• $85,000–$105,000, depending on experience
• vacation, benefits and bonus
• Langley, BC
• Fully in-office position
