Senior BI Engineer
6-Month Contract (Strong Extension Potential) Hybrid | GTA
Our client is seeking a Senior BI Engineer to join their Enterprise Technology team on a contract basis. This role will focus on the development, enhancement, and support of enterprise reporting and analytics solutions leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, SQL Server, and Data Warehouse technologies.
This is a hands-on position suited for someone who enjoys building reports and dashboards, working directly with business stakeholders, solving complex data challenges, and supporting critical reporting processes in a production environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions
- Build reporting solutions using Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, and enterprise data sources
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database objects
- Create and maintain semantic models, DAX calculations, and data models
- Gather requirements and work closely with business stakeholders to deliver reporting solutions
- Support scheduled and operational reporting processes, including month-end and quarter-end reporting cycles
- Troubleshoot reporting issues and provide production support
- Perform testing, validation, and documentation of BI solutions
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting performance, automation, and data quality
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Reporting, or BI Development
- Strong experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
- Advanced SQL Server and T-SQL skills
- Experience with DAX, Power Query, and data modeling
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts
- Experience building reports and dashboards in enterprise environments
- Ability to work directly with both technical and business stakeholders
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Nice to Have
- Microsoft Fabric experience, including Fabric SQL
- SSRS and SSAS experience
- Azure DevOps or Jira exposure
- Experience supporting enterprise reporting platforms
- Financial services industry experience
Hourly rate - $80-95
