Your New Role
As a Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng.), you will be responsible for leading and delivering mechanical building services projects from concept through construction. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to system design, equipment selection, project coordination, client engagement, tendering activities, and construction-phase support across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Projects may include:
- Institutional and healthcare facilities
- Municipal infrastructure and public-sector buildings
- Commercial and industrial developments
- Building system renewal and modernization projects
- Mechanical retrofit and upgrade initiatives
- New construction and facility expansion projects
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and reviewing mechanical engineering calculations and design documentation
- Developing specifications, drawings, and technical deliverables
- Selecting mechanical equipment and systems
- Coordinating with internal disciplines, external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders
- Managing project schedules, budgets, and technical quality
- Preparing fee proposals, cost estimates, and tender documentation
- Participating in procurement and contractor selection activities
- Conducting site reviews, field investigations, and construction support services
- Reviewing RFIs, shop drawings, change requests, and construction submissions
- Providing technical guidance to junior staff and support personnel
- Maintaining strong client relationships throughout project delivery
What You'll Need to Succeed
Required Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
- Experience delivering building services projects within consulting engineering environments.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems design.
- Experience with project management, client liaison, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Familiarity with building codes, engineering standards, and industry best practices.
- Experience preparing technical reports, specifications, tender documents, and construction packages.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or other engineering design software.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Valid driver's licence.
Highly Preferred Experience
- Healthcare, institutional, or municipal project experience.
- Experience managing mechanical design teams or mentoring junior staff.
- Exposure to procurement, tendering, and construction administration.
- LEED accreditation or sustainable design experience.
- Proven ability to independently manage projects through design and construction phases.
