Your New Company
Join a leading global financial services organisation with a highly sophisticated technology environment supporting institutional businesses across Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Investment Banking, Research and Global Capital Markets.
You will become part of an Institutional Securities Technology team responsible for highly available, business-critical platforms operating in a complex, large-scale financial environment.
Your New Role
As a Senior Technical Production Support Analyst, you will take a hands-on technical role supporting large-scale, distributed applications while helping drive production stability, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
This role sits at the intersection of Production Support, Application Support, DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). You will work closely with engineering and development teams to resolve complex production issues, improve monitoring and automation, and strengthen the overall reliability of the production environment.
You will also serve as a senior escalation point and help mentor other support team members, with an opportunity to take greater ownership of global production support activities.
What You Need to Do
- Provide hands-on Level 2/Level 3 production and application support for business-critical systems.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across applications, databases, operating systems, infrastructure and networks.
- Lead problem management activities and perform root-cause analysis for recurring production incidents.
- Partner closely with development and engineering teams on application stability, database design, query tuning and production improvements.
- Drive automation initiatives around deployment, system management, monitoring and service visibility.
- Identify opportunities to improve system reliability and introduce SRE-aligned practices.
- Mentor team members on production support, monitoring, troubleshooting and incident-management best practices.
- Participate in application design reviews and operational-readiness assessments for new and existing services.
- Act as a senior escalation point during critical production incidents.
- Participate in weekend and after-hours on-call rotations.
- Build strong relationships with downstream technology teams and business stakeholders.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technology discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience in Production Support, Application Support or Site Reliability Engineering within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of ITIL principles, SDLC and Agile development practices.
- Excellent UNIX/Linux knowledge, including processes, memory management, networking and command-line troubleshooting.
- Hands-on scripting/programming experience with PL/SQL, Shell/Bash, Python and/or Perl.
- Advanced database troubleshooting and SQL skills, ideally involving SQL Server, Sybase and DB2.
- Knowledge of MongoDB and NoSQL databases.
- Experience working with enterprise monitoring, alerting and ticketing platforms.
- Experience with scheduling tools such as AutoSys, Control-M and Crontab.
- Familiarity with Informatica ETL environments.
- Ability to perform effectively during high-severity incidents and in fast-paced, time-critical production environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with technology teams and business stakeholders.
- Financial services or banking domain knowledge is highly desirable.
- Experience with Git, Artifactory, Jenkins, Docker and CI/CD pipelines would be an asset.
- Exposure to Kafka, Spark or other distributed/data-streaming technologies is beneficial.
- Experience with Grafana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics and/or BMC is an advantage.
- Exposure to configuration-management and automation technologies such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef.
- Understanding of modern distributed architectures, including microservices, load balancing, caching, queuing and distributed-system failure modes.
- Software development or automation experience using languages such as Python, Java, C#, Scala or Go would be an asset.
What You'll Get in Return
You will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment. The client is offering competitive compensation, professional development opportunities, and the opportunity to work on complex, large-scale technology platforms supporting global financial markets.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production Support professional who wants to move beyond reactive application support and take greater ownership of production stability, automation, SRE improvements and technical leadership.
