VMware Infrastructure Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a senior VMware Infrastructure Specialist to support a large-scale VMware modernization initiative. This role will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing upgrades from vSphere 8 to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.x across multiple data centers in Canada and the United States.

The successful candidate will bring deep VMware expertise and hands-on experience leading infrastructure transformation projects, migrations, and enterprise platform upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead VMware architecture, design, and implementation activities.
• Plan and execute upgrades from vSphere 8 to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.x.
• Design and implement workload migrations into VCF environments.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects and Infrastructure teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Develop and maintain implementation plans, testing strategies, operational procedures, and supporting documentation.
• Support infrastructure governance, compliance, risk mitigation, and operational readiness.
• Participate in disaster recovery and high-availability planning and testing initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

• VMware Architecture, Design, Implementation Experience (Required)
• Experience with VMware environment upgrade to VCF 9.x (Required)
• Experience with workload migration to VCF 9.x (Required)
• VMware stack experience with: SRM, NSX-T, vSphere, vSAN, vLCM
• VCP-DCV (Data Center Virtualization / vSphere)
• VCP-NV (Network Virtualization / NSX)
• VCP-TKG (Tanzu Kubernetes Grid)

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of IT Infrastructure experience.
• 4+ years experience working with VMware, including experience upgrading to VCF 9.x
• Skills and experience as a solution/system architect, working on or supporting infrastructure projects.
• Strong communication skills. · Ability to understand and communicate key concepts.
• Understanding of IT business continuity, security, and other risk assessment and optimization methodologies.

Education

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
