In the role of Assistant Project Manager, we'll count on you to:

Coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project’s life cycle (from development and initiation to close-out), while under supervision of a Project Manager
Responsible for many aspects of a small project or a single aspect of a larger project
Coordinate workload through project execution and complete deliverables on budget and schedule
Work with the Project Manager, Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
Demonstrate strong ability to work under pressure, manage competing deadlines, and pivot quickly between changing priorities.
Take initiative without prompting, anticipating needs, escalating issues when appropriate, and make decisions with evolving information.
Approach challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset, bringing forward next steps, options, and recommendations.
Support Project Managers in the delivery of single and multidisciplinary engineering projects throughout the full project life cycle, from project initiation and planning through execution and close-out.
Coordinate project activities across engineering disciplines, clients, subconsultants and other stakeholders to support successful delivery of project scope, schedule, budget and quality objectives.
Assist with the development and maintenance of project execution plans, scopes of work, budgets, schedules, staffing plans, deliverable registers and work breakdown structures.
Maintain project risk, issue, change, decision and action registers, ensuring items are assigned, monitored and escalated appropriately.
Support project change management, including identification and documentation of changes in scope, preparation of change requests and tracking client authorization.
Coordinate project meetings, including preparation of agendas and materials, documentation of minutes and decisions, and follow-up of assigned actions.
Coordinate the preparation, interdisciplinary review, approval and submission of project deliverables in accordance with project requirements and established QA/QC procedures.
Support Project Managers with client communications and stakeholder coordination, including participation in client meetings, status reporting and resolution of project issues.
Assist with the administration and coordination of subconsultants, contractors and vendors, including scopes, deliverables, schedules, budgets and invoices, as applicable.
Assist with contract administration, including monitoring contractual requirements, deliverables, amendments and client commitments.
Support preparation of proposals, fee estimates, project schedules, staffing plans and scopes of work for new and existing clients.
Coordinate project close-out activities, including completion of outstanding deliverables, financial and contractual close-out, document retention and lessons learned.
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing deadlines and adapt quickly to changing project priorities.
Take initiative by anticipating project needs, following through on commitments, escalating issues appropriately and making sound decisions within assigned authority.
Approach challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset, bringing forward recommended actions and options rather than identifying problems alone.
Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

PMP certification is considered an asset
Experience working in an engineering consulting environment.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple concurrent priorities.
Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with careful attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical staff, project managers, clients and business leaders.
Demonstrated understanding of fundamental project-management principles, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, change and quality management.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn project-management, financial and document-management systems.
Ability to work independently within defined authority while recognizing when issues require escalation.
Experience with project scheduling, financial/project controls or enterprise project-management systems.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering or technical projects.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and related professional experience
5 years related experience
Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
