HDR is looking for an Bridge Engineer to join our team of professionals in Ontario. The primary responsibilities include:
- Applying structural analysis and detailed design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other civil structures.
- Perform calculations and prepare design documentation under the guidance of senior engineers; review the work of EITs as appropriate.
- Support quality control activities by participating in independent reviews and checks of structural designs.
- Collaborate with CAD and BIM staff to support drawing production and provide necessary design information.
- Contribute to the preparation of construction specifications and tender documentation as part of a project team.
- Assist in managing project tasks or work packages to help ensure delivery on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Participate in meetings with clients to present work, discuss design issues, and support project coordination efforts under the direction of senior staff.
- Support the proposal preparation process for bridge design projects as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in bridge design including design calculations, plan development, specification development, and cost estimating.
- Experience with the analysis and design of new bridges and civil structures, and rehabilitation of existing structures.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive engineering reports, condition assessment reports, design reports, presentations, technical proposals and specifications.
- Experience in project management for small to medium sized projects.
- Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
