Role and Facility Information
Williams Lake is situated in British Columbia’s Central Interior, also known as the Cariboo Chilcotin region, and is well known for its annual Stampede. The city is home to approximately 11,000 residents, with an additional 25,000 people living in the surrounding area. Its abundant lakes, rivers, and hiking and biking trails make it an exceptional destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Popular summer activities include camping, fishing, and hunting, while winter recreation features snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, and ice fishing. Hospital Description
Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) is undergoing a major redevelopment and Phase 1 is scheduled for completion in 2027! The project includes an addition to the hospital and extensive renovations to the existing facility. The expansion will add 25 inpatient beds, increasing the total to 53, along with a new emergency department, mental health unit, and cancer care department. A new Maternity Clinic has also opened, offering centralized, comprehensive care and support to expectant mothers throughout the Cariboo region.
CMH is currently a Level 2 community hospital with 28 inpatient beds. It provides emergency, surgical, medical, cardiology, and obstetrical care. On-site services include laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, and outpatient hemodialysis.
Adjacent to CMH, Deni House embraces a resident-centred philosophy that helps individuals maintain their highest possible level of function and quality of life. The facility has 13 private rooms and five three-bed rooms. Nine beds are designated for short stays, including two for palliative care and two ALCP beds.
Atwood Medical Clinic is a private practice located in downtown Williams Lake, approximately five minutes from the hospital. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 a.m. to noon on Fridays. The successful candidate will deliver patient care at the clinic for at least three to four days per week, review test results, and may divide their time between the practice and other mutually agreed-upon areas of interest. Candidates are expected to provide 1,680 hours of direct patient care annually.

Some of those services include, Indigenous Health, Maternity, LTC, OAT, Paediatrics, ER, Anaesthesiology, Surgical assists, etc. The possibilities are endless to build a practice aligned with your professional interests.
