Purposely built by Alcan in the 1950's, the friendly multicultural town boasts perhaps the best facilities for a community of its size with two ice arenas, a brand new pool, sports fields, a theatre, a modern library, recreation centre, a shopping mall, marinas, homes for the elderly, several schools, inexpensive housing and countless opportunities to take advantage of the spectacular wilderness just outside the Douglas Channel.
