Role and Facility Information

Island Health has an opportunity for a locum Anesthesiologist to join a busy anesthesia practice at the North Island Hospital Campbell River & District Campus.

The North Island Hospital Campbell River & District Campus is a new hospital with 95 beds and serves a referral population of 60,000.

Surgical services include fellowship trained orthopedics (joint revision,arthroscopy & spine), General Surgery, ENT, Plastics, Obs/Gyn, Urology, Dental,and Sedation Service for Endoscopy. Anesthesia is covered 24/7, with some surgical call services shared with neighboring centers in Comox and Courtenay. After hours work can also involve ICU and ER for trauma or acute airway management.

Affiliation with the University of British Columbia’s Island Medical Program provides teaching opportunities to medical students and residents.

Responsibilities

Provide anesthesia services for a variety of surgical specialties including orthopedics, general surgery, and obstetrics/gynecology. Manage ICU and ER cases for trauma and acute airway management while providing teaching opportunities to medical students.

Requirements

The candidate must be a qualified Anesthesiologist capable of handling a busy practice and 24/7 call services. Ability to work within a hospital setting and collaborate with various surgical teams is required.
